How to avoid or reduce Barrel distortion?

my F707 have these Cons...

Bad lens distortion with wide angle macros
Barrel distortion at wide angle

it is very irritating esp when i take macro shots of hardware for review, the motherboard instead of rectangular, it will be curved on the 4 side....

very ugly and i dunno how to make it straight...

2 points to note:
1) dun use wide angle to shoot macros -> that's how u get obvious barrel distortion with ANY wide angle lens
2) shoot at a longer focal length with a closeup filter
