How should a group model photo shoot be organised?

questions.

1)does the model leave ON THE DOT?as in say shoot ends at 3pm.
so at 3pm zun zun on the dot she will say, 'times up, that's all folks'.:dunno:

2)20 minutes each group according to zaren.
seriously, newbies like me, 20 minutes can take how many shots ah?
when i shot my friends, it took me so long to get to the correct pose.not to mention looking out for the elements like messy hair, chopped off thumb and such.
maybe you guys are damn experienced.
but coming from a newbie POV,20 mins for me, i confirm stressed.:sweat:
is 20mins seriously enough to shoot 1 outfit?
shouldnt the organiser limit change of outfits?
i reckon 2 outfits shall do the trick.:dunno:

Professional model will leave on the dot. Over time is damn expansive. However, with all these casual shoots, my expereince is it depends. The more expereince, hence expansive, models, the more likely they will want to stick with industry standard practice. 4 hours means 240 minutes, not 241.

20 minutes, plenty of time of one outfit. If I have the luxury to plan ahead, and I have exactly the light set up I want, assumeing we are shooting in a studio, 20 minutes, 1 outfits, 4 to 5 different poses.

Key is plan ahead!

I remember when I organized my 1st shoot (long time ago), we would fix the shooting crew first, fixed date and time for the shoot, then we arranged to meet up beforehand to discuss the theme, chose the model, etc etc, and collected money as well, then on the actual shoot day there would be no misunderstanding or surprise whatever.

I have to agree that it is way much better organised by some of the shoots that are going on these days.

After all, weren't you the one that introduced model shoots in CS that most likely resulted in many people being interested in photography and model shoots?

That is what I did at home a few years ago. However, mass shoot has reached the shores of the US as well.

Btw, you haven't organised any shoot for a long time? Retired? Hopefully only from organising, not from photogrpahy

U serious? They now do mass shoot in US already? Maybe I should go there to organize...

this thread is really good!
now we = the ppl who pose for the cameras, will know the expectations of photographers during a paid shoot.

but i do think it's impt for the photographers to communicate the kind of outcome he/she wish to have so that the models can work towards it. the pose.. the emotions..

oh.. and it's always nice to hear the word 'please'

I mainly shoot under natural lights, including models. The lightings are arranged by God.

I have no problem claiming those to be my work.

Photography evolves when people wished to capture important moments when it happens.
If some of you prefer to create an image by making things happened, its your choice. I know it happened everyday.
But saying that you don't own the image unless you intentionally cook it up, is way over the top in my humble opinion.

4) Must be able to plan/control/change the lightings ( lightings and shadow is very important in photography. If you can't plan/control/change the lighting according to your wish/vision, how can you claim it to be your work/portfolio? )

Hi all,

As you may well realise I don't live there, I simply enjoy what you all have to share.

Have a few friends now there due to CS.

I pose a question. "One similar to what student is organizing in one way or another".

When is all said and done about what one would do as per "The thread from DP",

I would imagine that there are many that know girls/boys that would like to model.

There are also many that would like to learn taking photo's of models.

Why not try to get together "Create a thread" where you can get together.

Form a group. Start from scratch. Post your results and take the slams.

It doesn't always have to centre around money. Simply like minded people with a desire to learn.

Along the way, "probably day one" you will learn about the logistics (al la, number of photog's vs time).

Just a thought

P.S. I have a belief that there are those out there that can make it happen.

Take a look at the IR community :thumbsup: it was and still is due to like minded people sharing an interest.... all learning and sharing/no charge.
