Dear all, i would be having my ROM in a couple of months' time. I may need to find an ameteur photographer to shoot the session. That's all he needs to do. I will do the post-shooting photo processing and touch up myself. May i know usually how much is the Angpow i should reward the photog? Anyone has any experience to share?

Thanks in advance for your suggestion ;)

I guess about $50-80? To cover his transport/time/batteries etc.

Around 70 up or

SGD$88 for a auspicious charm and a meal to round it off : )

I got $100-200 before for shooting friends' ROM ceremonies.

Regards
CK

That is an insulting fee for our profession.
I certainly hope the "pros" you mention do not do that for a living, or the standard of photography as an art would certainly be diminished in the eyes of many ignorant people.

I can shoot for you... $80-$88 is around what I get, if you just bring a digital wallet along, can even hand over the shots directly to you after ROM ;)

I thought pro charges around $238 for 1 ROM session? :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

No offence to any one.

I think about $300 for ROM + other for developing, depending how many rolls you want :).

The last one I did I charged $350 or so with prints, 3 rolls.

yes I'm talking about full time photographers, go surf around those wedding websites or the websites of some wedding photographers, they really do charge that.

Which means I as a freelance is possibly getting more than them. :)

That's sad then. They aren't really "pro" for what they're worth. It is almost like hawking your services for the lowest price - because that's all it is worth.
Some people degrade themselves because they are "sluts" for money don't they?

that's abit too harsh and judgemental. they have their reasons, if everyone can charge $3000 per shoot who won't want to right ?

I've shot just ROM before....about a 2 hr on site job including 3 rolls of film plus 4R prints . Picked up $250 with a $30 ang pow and free lunch at the Ritz.....also shot extra 1 roll there, but for free....just to buy their heart.

absolutely revolting.......................  ;(

OT abit here:

I personally feel that it's our job also, beside being professional and responsible enough for the photos we take, that we should "educate" couples on the current pricing and not allow such price wars and undercutting to rage on.

The fact that NOT all couples are ignorant of the market pricing for such event coverage; just that they choose to be more thrifty with their spending. Esp, ROM.
It depends on how you want to package yourself to your clients.

the bottomline is you dun have to charge so low to get business.

i gave $150 for the 'hardwork' only. prints and everything covered by me. free dinner too.
