time to renew this poll. think most of us have either doubled or more than tripple or spendings since our 1st post. its not accurate anymore. I have trippled my spending by now. in a few more weeks, it will be double of what i have now. funds already set aside for BBB.

Hi DeSwitch,

I have been thinking along the same lines for a while.

Since the poll started I have at least 1 new DSLR and 2 new lens. More menory cards. Studio lights.
Filters. New proof printers. New computer for photography etc.etc.

Ahhhhhhhh

Sad thing is I am still as bad at photography :bsmilie:

Cheers :)

 Lost track of how much I've spent liao...

wonder if the final 8R print from the most expensive equipment and the cheapest equipment on the list bears a huge difference

Are you referring to "picture quality" or "quality of a picture"? If the former, depends on the specs of the equipment used. I would say the most important factor is the quality of the lens used. Analogy: a 1DsII with an inferior lens would probably produce worse looking prints than say a 400D using an expensive L lens. (strictly speaking in terms of image quality, all other things being equal) If you are only referring to the latter, of course the person behind the equipment is the determining factor.

in terms of technical, the difference shld be visually obvious.

Looking at the polls, no wonder there are so many Camera companies and stores making good money...

Should have switch line selling camera ;)

Do a quick math for the sum, at least CSers spent 4.4 milion for our equipments..

Oohhh dear, can almost buy me a 1.2L car with coe....!!

only manual film camera, OM, LF, Hassy. no digital. so far only buy and re-sell accessories if needed, seldom or never sell any of the bodies or lenses.

seldom buy new, all good condition 2nd hand stuff. If all those were bought new, could worth a nice 1.6L car liao. ;p

Some how next month I 'll get bonus..then I might jump to the next level liao...:(

So far, just 850 :)

Planning to buy a tripod ($100-200), a 50mm prime (~$150), 18-70mm + sigma 70-300 (~$550) and a bag (~$150 hopefully) soon though. That's after selling both my lenses (for ~$300), but damn it's still an expensive hobby :(

Tell me about it... I still got loads on my wishlist.

And if my other half knows about it, I'll be dead. :sweatsm:

Hm... I belong to the above 10k- 15k group, however, I'm unable to vote in the poll for some reason..

Actually a bit hard to count provided everything little thing you buy or sell at wat prices is noted down... :bsmilie: becoz got selling & buying mah... :sweatsm:

Don't feel sad/bad for this hobby/craft you are in dude. The most importing thing is that "did you learn anything from it"?
Some people will take around 2 years to master the craft. Some a few weeks & most a few more years. That depends how often you shoot.
In this digital era, is a lot more faster to improve than the analogue times. As you can see the results right away. This saves time & money plus the learning curve is so much shorter too.
Don't give up & do keep on mastering this hobby/craft you are enjoying in. Cheers mate.:)

I didn't know spending was so much...wow!

Taking the midpoint, and capping at top spending, conservatively, the total spending by clubsnappers is already S$6.8 million. Based on the above 1,109 respondents, that is about an average of S$6,130 per clubsnapper. WOW...!!
