Here's a new one. This shutter was supposedly to have been replaced at 87k. The image is now 137k. Its either Canon Singapore didnt change the shutter (yet billed me for it) OR the shutters of Canon's 1 series sucks big time. Two in a row is not funny. Lucky for me this did not happen at someone's wedding. The camera is now on its way to Canon Singapore. And yes, i do have a spare body.

Then i'll replace my 7 million dollar home with the brazillion dollar home.
that bag is king of camera bag for crumpler.. now it is available in sg.. hehe..
Another thumbs up for Canon Service center. I asked them to rush the job, and they did it without extra charge. They even waved off the service charge to replace the shutter too. From $360++ --> $170.10w/gst. My 1DM2 Shutter died at 25K clicks....., suppose to die only at 200K.
Here are the pics:

Oh dear, looks in a rather bad condition. My 10D's shutter replacement is around $178 and includes free cleaning.
May be a 8.5 fps shutter cost more :bsmilie:
Wtf?! All that doesn't count as the shutter unit.. right?
Maybe those have manufacturing faults or better known as QC fail.
If QC failed, it should not have come out of the factory at all.. no?
Incorrect. I've experienced before several QC failed new products and went back to the respective shops to get a new replacement. Sometimes during checks, they may have overlooked it.
If it happens to a particular brand for a few times, I would not buy that brand anymore.

How do you know they failed QC?
Fortunately those are only one-time experience for me after replacement, all's ok.
For example, last time i bought a Manfrotto 484RC2 ballhead from MS Colour and i happily brought it home. During my first use i found that even when i tightened the ballhead to the maximum, it still can move. So obviously it's QC failed, so i brought it back to get a replacement.
