how many 5DMkII owners....if these 7D specs are true

These specs will make it not only cannibalize the 5DMkII segment of Canon's product line, it would be also a direct competitor to the 1DsMkIII.
Therefore it is very difficult to envisage these type of specs at a price of US$2900.

Yes, I think so too. But other than these specs. There aren't many new things in the camera domain at the moment that will interests DSLR users. Maybe with a few exception as in built-in wifi, a-GPS?:dunno:

i would remain faithful to mine :bsmilie:

If the rumoured specs for the 7D are true, its FF, fast fps and high number of cross-line AF points at 19 would be stealing business away from the 1DsMIII.
Then what I would do is, keep my 5DMkII, and buy the 7D instead of the 1DsMkIII that I have been drooling after, since both the latter are fast cameras for capturing Sports and fast-moving activiies.
Then don't need to pay $15K for a 1DsMkIII liao!

Hey you actually have put in these two very innovative additions - a Wifi (like a WFT-4 transmitter that costs $1k) or even better, a Blue Tooth enabled transfer platform, plus a built in high speed, low battery consumption GPS system for geo-tagging every photo to the coordinates that works with Google Earth.
Some more, a built in battery grip like the 1DMkIII, with the mandatory vertical shutter.
Can have a more powerful pop-up flash.
That would clinch the top prize. And price it at U$2900.

I think the TS got a mish-mesh mix up of the specifications between the 60D and the 7D.

i)The framerate and AF module is gonna be found only on the 60D ( most likely).

ii) The FF or APS-H sensor is gonna be found on the 7D.

iii) If the 7D is a FF, then its most likely going to be a 'budget FF'. With features similar to the 500D, body build quality similar to the 500D, but overall dimensions similar to a xxD or the 5D.

iv) If the 7D is APS-H, then the AF and framerate may be possible. But the price will be a whole lot closer to the 5Dmkii. Around $3500 RRP insstead.

Canon has always clearly demarcated their products. You won't see such an overlap as the specifications suggested by the TS. :dunno:

I am sure all know of the rumoured 7D specs

- FF
- 19 AF
- 8 fps
- OLED LCD
- 1080p video
- less then $3k

How many 5DMkII owners will make the switch to the 7D??? seems better value for the money leh...

Man, you are so dreaming that will be true.

It is rumours like these that propagate the false excitement further. Then we might just see many selling their new 5D II in the B&S section. Then some chap will come in with a new post: "Why are there so many people selling the 5D II?" :hammer:

Canon won't be dumb to do that. Since when have we seen any overlap in features in the different camera series?

8 fps? Dream on. Even if it's true (which I only bet 1% on) on this so called "7D", there will be many reduced features compared to the 5D II. 8 fps looks more reasonable on the "60D".

Less than 3k? Whoa, Canon might as well give away its 5D II for free like name cards and start calling itself CCC - Canon Charity Company.

So do you think there will be a simultaneous release of both XD and XXD?

Can anyone enlighten me, in the past, is it happened before, where Canon release 2 EOS / SLR in one time?

I didn't know there are going to be 2 cameras. I thought the rumours are only about 7D. On hindsight, they did with 5DMkII and 50D, isn't it? Not exactly at the same time but quite close. So maybe I am confused with the specs. Or maybe the 7D is going to be APS-H. I really don't think there will be a "budgeter" FF than 5DMkII. Doesn't make any sense. If there is, I will buy and crush it like a cockroach in front of Canon marketing staff for reducing the value of my 5DMkII :bsmilie:. I can do with a budget APS-H though. Complement my 5DMkII very nicely. Hope it uses the same grip and battery

The OLED have the life of 3 years shorter then the LCD. My question is have they make anything to improve the life of the OLED.

If this means more 5D and 5DMkII would be appearing in BnS, I'll be waiting eagerly. :D

The 5DM2 will be as the 5D is today, and eventually obsolete. I will buy one because I want to take really good shots, not worry about resale value.

now the guy who photoshopped the pictures is seriously laughing ;P

I don't need 19AF points and 8fps..

My major wish is for Canon to spread out the existing 9AF points of the 5Dmk2 and provide more AF cover closer to the edge, and add cross sensor to these points..

Needing to focus & recompose using the current AF points (way too centralised) and risk OOF with large aperture setting is a major pain for me at the moment.. really hope Canon can do something about it REAL SOON.. GRRRR...;(

But OLED screen will be cool to have.. no objection with that.. hehe..

If this config is really true. the end of 5D2 is near..so sad..barely 1yr plus since its release...more ppl will post and sell...

for me i will just keep mine since i'm happy with it and doesn't need a change. then again if the price is good...hmm:think:

In that case, how? Sell now while the price is still good. As it draws nearer and if the rumour is true, then price sure gone case one.

haha..no la...price is good i am referring to 7D..the potential 7D..i like my 5D2 still...but i may trade off my 50D for the 7D

Perhaps Canon should also include in the "smile detection" feature inside? That ought to seal the deal to "delight you always".

I think that the smile detection technology was developed by sony's cybershot, haha

If the specs are true, they could be competing with Nikon D700.There isn't any camera with frame rates, having sufficient focussing pts, and is competitively priced for sports and birding. I drool over D700 but can't afford to switch system. If that's true it would be good news for me.:)

Looking at the rivalry so far, the 2 big boys will not go head to head. Each will produce one rug above or below the equivalent of the other. Taking on the D700 maybe the yet to be rumoured 1DsMkIV. :bsmilie: I think the rumoured 7D may be a notch above the D300 while the 60D is above that of D90.
