How long do inkjet prints really last?

I used the old Canon S530D (yes still using!) to print on Sepom and Konica Premium Photo Silky and Premium Photo Glossy.

The Sepom faded off in less than 3 mths, out in the open but not in direct sunlight.

Both the Konica never fade after 1.5yrs, under DIRECT SUNLIGHT! Lucky I bought a lot of them when they always selling at half price at Challenger....

Wow! Didn't fade after 1.5yrs under Direct Sunlight? How many hours of sunlight does it get daily? So, it does show that the paper do matter more than the ink here does it? :think:

I think I should've asked this question first before I bought a bunch of the new Sepom Alumina photo paper. So far, I only see -ve results on Sepom. Actually I don't mind the latest Alumina paper after printing the photo but it does seem to have some problem with the quality of the paper. I get some peelings on the printed side along the edges and at times even somewhere in the center of the image. I've yet to test them out in the open whether or not in direct sunlight. Perhaps I'll try it out.

I placed it in my office and the window is facing northeast, give and take that's about 3hrs of sun a day, and during this morning period, even with the air-con I can feel the heat. I also put a sample printed by i950 on Canon Photo Paper Pro, also never fade.

The Sepom was dirt cheap but really disappointing when it comes to longevity. If you store it well it's fine though, the print quality is actually very good.

BTW I also placed Canon's Matt Photo Paper nearby, so not in direct sunlight but has faded a little, not really noticeable though.
