yup. this is quite high and noisy for me.
EXCEPT! for the face area.
looking at the arms area will get me CRAZY. too noisy . =/
for me , 1000 and above is high le.
Nah, it's not the MP, it's the sensor size. A simple example, PnS like G10 with 14MP versus 350D with 8.2MP – 350D is way better as sensor size is way bigger too.A larger MP means you can push ISO a little higher with same quality. IE a 3.2 MP camera usually dies at 400 ISO but a 10MP usually is fine at 800.

i dunno how to vote for this one.....
A100 - nothing above ISO 400
A700 - anything higher than ISO 1600 (actually i can go above but must expose properly or noise will appear in the dark areas)
A850 - anything above ISO 3200
actually for A700 and A850, if i properly expose the pics, the noise are well-controlled too, especially after all the version upgrades and techniques...
On the A850 if shot properly you can even max out the ISO. Below are 2 shots directly converted from RAW with ACR5.5.
ISO3200

ISO6400

somehow i felt the noise are not jarring out for attention and therefore makes it really useable.did u follow the setting that has been discussed? some argobasta's setting or something?
on a sidenote, ACR5.5 can read 850 raw files? can LR 2.5 read them too?
