In HK, the shop usually quote you the credit card price. If you intend to pay cash, ask them for their best price and usually you will be able to get a slightly lower price.

anywhere can get the best price for Nissin Di866 flash?

CS,fyi, when i go TS buy my thing, that salesman told me no different pay cash o cc.my advise is-change more cash for urself, prepare more for shopping, cos 1 SGD=5.5 HKD.if u use cc,exchange rate is 1=5.4-5.42.so prepare the amount for ur lens o flash!!!;)

Then your Cantonese is not good enough to pass you as one of the locals. :bsmilie:

Seriously, when I am getting something that is above HK$10,000, I usually can get $50-100 less by paying cash. So, actually if you don't mind the credit card's poor rate, it will be easier to use credit card. Imagine you change S$5k into HK$ and then later realized that the item is out of stock everywhere, it will be a hassle to carry the stack of cash back.

Watch more Cantonese drama series, it really helps. Never use any word of Malay origin, obviously.

Frankly, I feel that if you speak Cantonese since young it is a hindrance. You're so ingrained with using certain words that puzzle the HKers it is hard to stay consistent. E.g. many SGeans like to ask how much $ as how many loi or kao. That will make them scratch their heads. They never use those words, only how many qin or mun
