HK don't have GST Yet

key word to notice is YET

don't want to pay GST then remove the lens from the box and put it into your bag
put the box into your suitcase.

Yap, they don't have the blood sucking tax yet... but very soon, they are going to implement it... :thumbsd: :nono:

GST only apply for local purchase in that country, right?
If tourist can get rebate of the GST right?
Just like the 5% GST rebate for tourist here..
Correct me if I am wrong..:)

Otega and N-user are correct, there is no VAT or GST in Hong Kong yet. Who knows whether it will be implemented in the future :nono: Even though GST may be applicable for local purchases, it is always a pain applying for rebate when leaving the country.. :sticktong

Anyways, i bought my SB-800 when i was there... hooya!

i think we pay abt $300-$400 to fly to hongkong to buy the lens, in the end we still save money than compared to in our singapore...
somemore still can go there eat and shop & eat and shop

yupe.. but not the air ticket is expensive... 3 days 500 plus plus liao inclusive of hotel.

Not likely you can save money as bear in mind you still need to stay in a hotel. And also usually they have this min 3 days stay thing for those cheaper on offer tickets.

Yea rite....you also have one rite? Got a thread all about it :bsmilie:

Do they have the tendency to overcharge tourists?

I think singapore airlines is having a 2 to go promotion to HK at $298. Quite cheap for SQ.

Hi All
I happen to be based in HK and does my shopping at various shops in Mongkok and Wanchai
Most of my stuff i get from Wing Sing or DC Fever or Tin Chueng depending on items
Yes the prices varies depends on whether u know them or not just like in Singapore
The second hand prices are quite competitive and i've seen a mint conditionNikon 20-35mm f2.8 going for less than S$1K
I saw a latest grey set 17-35mm going for HK7800 which is about S1,600
For CSnapper who is interested in moving around shopping, give me a call would be glad to show a fellow Singaporean around
PM me if u want
Cheers
Cableguy

So are these 1 yr warrenty or grey set,i thought grey set should be cheaper for walk in.
Their website is more ex.

eh... then warranty how? must send back to HK? i;m not familiar with buying from hk..

If you buy from an authorised Nikon dealer, it comes with the same '3-piece worldwide warranty'.
