so my departure date is nearing and i've been reading from this thread that echo photo in tsim sha tsui offers very good price.

thing is, i'll be staying in yau ma tei and the nearest area i can go shop around will be mongkok, where wing shing, tin cheung, citicall, dc fever etc are.

just wanna ask if i'll be missing out a lot in terms of price if i head for mongkok and give echo a miss? i don't have all day/many days to shop, that's why if i were to go down to TST, i'll only visit echo, grab and go.

will be getting a 70-200 F4L IS + 580EXII, also concern with the stock availability.

any inputs from you guys? TIA.

From many feedback.. echo offers reasonable price and good service..but that dosent mean best price since the price changes every now and then. you might get cheaper and better deal in those shops you mention anyway. Ill say if you dont have time to go TST. Then shop at Mongkok..since there are more shops there..

hmm, point noted.

will be shopping for grey sets and i heard wing shing does not has any of that?

heard from friend that wing shing and tin cheung has marked up their price as alot of ppl went there to buy the stuff and back to sg to sell thus they decided to mark up to earn more.
Anyone can justify?

They would only do that if they can tell you're a carrot head, otherwise they will lose their competitiveness with the locals there.

Ok, this sounds logical enough.

I think I'll go straight to sim city and see what I can find.

I think purchases from SG is just a drop in the bucket for the HK market. The main business is from main land China as there are so many Free and Easy China tourists coming to HK just to buy cheaper and genuine stuff such as branded bags/watches/milk powder etc...

You can always get quotes from shops nearby such as DC Fever, Tin Cheung, Fortress, Citicall (Suning), Broadway, etc. If Wing Shing gives you a higher quote, you can always get the stuff from someone else. The name I listed above are all decent shops.

Saw GrinAPE from Price.hk. But their company is located in an ulu area IIRC.

Shopping Limited is in mongkok.. Not sure it is reputable, but their price is cheap compare to other prices.

24mm f1.4 mk2
echo - 13300 hkd should have no warranty, still checking..
Shopping Limited - 12300hkd No warranty

Bought Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 from Echo, HKD 4900 but according to Mr Yip, there is no international warranty and its not a grey set. Anyone can confirm this?

Mr CS Tan, pardon me for asking.

prev you posted that the 70-200 f4L IS is ard HKD8400 but on price.hk, it is HKD9500, difference of 1k.

i not sure how much cash to bring, any insights on this?

Hi,

Eyes a bit groggy after wading through 40 over pages... but I have a trip to HK at of Nov.

I am buying a Canon 10 - 20 mm UWA and not worry about "river" goods. Just want to buy a brand new lens instead of a 2nd hand one. Base on the thread, I have narrow down to

Echo : Does Mr Yip carries gray sets of lens?
Alternative is the other shop Tin Cheung which does carry gray sets.

Does anyone knows the average HKD to SGD rates in Hong Kong right now?

TIA!
