I'm going hk this month end, looking to buy tamron 17-55mm 2.8 with vc, anyone can recommend a place? And how much would u bring payment in cash or credit card recommended?

Thanks in advance

I would suggest Wing Shing in Mongkok. They accept credit cards payment without additional charges but of course you will be paying the higher exchange rates that the bank has imposed. Alternatively, you can exchange HK dollar in SG and bring them in. With the $1,000 note, you won't need to carry that many pieces to buy your lens.

I talked to the phottix distributor in hk....confirmed no international warranty. U will have to send the sets back to hk. Apparently hk disty can't reach an agreement with red dot on warranty stuff.

anyone knows how much is the 5D MK2 price at hk?
Was in hk again for some matters last week and had the time to check out mongkok camera shops.... 5dmk2 is out of stock everywhere.... :o

Hi does anyone knows roughly how much does a billingham hadley pro cost in hk? I tried googling the various shops besides Tin Cheung and they dont have pricing, Tin Cheung's prices are apparently not updated from what I've heard.

Besides, price.com.hk also no listings for billy bags. Anyone has any idea? Will the savings be at least $80?

Tin cheung prices are very competitive, IMHO.

wanna ask,
i checked price in price.hk, like D3s price vs local, is it true that price difference can be up to 1k, or is there any hidden charge?

and comparing 行 and 水 stock, since body is not covered by NSC, any major concern?
I do not go back hk freq, if gotta send for repair, just gotta pay in local nsc.

I suppose plenty of you got from hk and are satisfy with the quality right

Sorry guys one question to ask.. Anyone shop at mongkok computer centers camera shop before? Are the camera shop there trust worthy? Thanks!

I m going to HK this weekend, hopefully the 5D2 kit is in stock.
Anyone know how much is it in HK, and which shop should i go for my purchase.
I m looking for grey set...

Thanks in advance.

I don't think this is a hard to get item so I would expect you can find it in most stores. I would suggest Wing Shing as they usually holds the largest stock. Take note of not getting the gray set if international warranty is important to you as gray sets usually will not include an international warranty card.

Salute my In-law who went to Man-Shing to get this TC for me for a HK$150 difference from Fortress/Broadway.

And once again thanks CSTAN!!!

There are quite a few shops inside the Mongkok computer centre. I won't say they are not trust worthy but you need to know the current market price in order not to over pay. I have bought stuff from a couple of the shops there because they offered lower price than the others.

For people not sure about the current HK market price or have no time to compare price between shops, I will always suggest Wing Shing as they have a fixed price quote and won't change the quote base on who you are or who you ask that quote from. Their price might not be the lowest but you are sure you won't get cheated either.

I understand that most of the recommended shops offer good prices for lens, how about other stuffs e.g. tripod and bag? Or are there any shops specialising in these products which offers good value?

For those main accessories brands such as Gitzo, Manfrotto, etc., there is still a small price difference between SG and HK and they are mainly sold in shops like Tin Cheung and Wing Shing. But, if you are looking for aftermarket brands such as China made brands, then you will be able to save much more buying in HK. For aftermarket brands, you should go to Sham Shui Po Apliu Street (深水埗鴨寮街). 莹記 is one of them but there are many others selling same stuff along Apliu Street. Look into the Sham Shui Po section for detail shop addresses.

Thanks for the tip. I probably will look out for Benro tripod. :)

anyone bought any flash from HK? I'm eyeing the canon 580EXII. Wonder if it's worth. I saw from price.com.hk retailing abt S$600 after conversion of 6.2.
