Do take note about the price difference between HK local sets and gray sets. Also, you will need to aware that Canon HK has changed their lens & flash warranty from international warranty to local-only warranty since last October. Unless you are going back to HK for warranty claims, you can consider the gray sets since they are usually slightly cheaper than the HK local sets.

As for where to find the cheapest price, you will have to shop around. A good place to start is in Mongkok where there are so many shops there that are within a short walk from each other. Names in the shopping guide under Mongkok section will give you a good idea where to look from.

CS, any word of caution on the method of payments at the shops?
Like SG, using cash is cheaper than paying by nets or cc.

Payment is usually by cash. For those chain electronic stores such as Suning (Citicall), Fortress, Broadway, Chung Yuen, etc., credit cards are also accepted. You can try your luck with these stores and see if they are willing to give you a slight discount if you pay them cash. As far as I know, Wing Shing (including Man Shing) gives only one quote and it applies to both cash and credit card.

M42 to EOS adaptor with AF confirm.
Obvious place to buy would be online (Tagotech or Ebay), but firstly cannot test, then the issue of flange or no flange etc, then lastly, many of the Ebay sellers are from China or HK.
So I figured....since I'm going to HK, why not look for it in an actual shop, then can test etc.
Anyone knows which of the above mentioned shops carry such stuff?

Try Sim City in Mongkok (旺角山東街 47-51 號星際城市 Sim City, 47-51 Shan Tung Street, Mongkok).

Heard that Nikon also stopped their production for FX lens and camera also.
Got updated quote from HK that the lens i going to buy increased by few hundreds.

Going for a trip during May, dunno still wanna get it or not. :dunno:

I have talked to Man Shing sales yesterday and they have indicated that they might not have any lens (the more popular ones) to sell in April since there is not more stock coming over. HK camera shops have raised price in anticipation for the lens shortage since last week.

AFAIK, this applies to both Canon and Nikon MIJ (Made in Japan) cameras and lenses.

For old lenses, you might want to look at the shops around Champagne Court, 44 Kimberley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon (尖沙咀金巴利道 44 號香檳大廈商場 )

For the more popular Nikon/Canon lenses, Sim City in Mongkok is the place to visit.

Just came back from Hong Kong today. Went gear hunting (for Canon stuff) in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok at a number of the shops recommended by TS.

The good news is, while some shops are running out of (or low on stock) of the more popular L lenses, most shops still have stock. The bad news is, street prices have indeed been raised.
