and Mitsubishi is owned by Matsushita if I'm not wrong.

Temasek Holdings will buy over Nikon in a multi-billion dollar deal. Japan govt will protest and say buy out is illegal; passes regulations that limit foreign ownership. Relations are strained further when Spore narrowly beats Japan in a regional soccer competition due to a dubious referee decision.... ;p;p;p

Nikon Corporation (株式会社ニコン Kabushiki-gaisha Nikon?) (TYO: 7731 ), also known as Nikon or Nikon Corp., is a Japanese company specializing in optics and imaging. Its products include cameras, binoculars, microscopes, measurement instruments, and the steppers used in the photolithography steps of semiconductor fabrication. It was founded in 1917 as Nihon (Nippon); the company was renamed Nikon Corporation after its cameras, in 1988. As of 2002, it has about 14,000 employees. Nikon is one of the Mitsubishi companies.

Orrrhzz....No wonder got a friend working in Mitsubishi told me bout this..

Probably mac Donalds,

You can get fries with it, and, a lucky dip 64meg card for the kiddies.

Minolta is still around, just that they are not into selling cameras and photographic film.

As for Nikon, they have other business like industry and scientific optic. It will not be surprise to see company pulling out from a not so profitable market. Like someone had posted -
.

But Nikon is unlikely to be sold anytime soon.

They are a small player in the consumer market, but big in industrial applications.

Nikon might one day pull out from consumer market but stay competitive in other area of the optic business.

Most company at the end of the day, it's the profit that keep them going, not pride or passion. Which area of business is more profitable, that area stay, where those which don't give a viable profit, will have to go.

dont pray pray, could be a company from China.
