And even if you can read chinese, it is quite differnet from SG chinese because of all the slang used
what exactly are you looking for?![]()

I understand, but you probably agree that it not easy to learn chinese (for someone who comes from a family where no one speaks it, not even dialect)........., I just can't remember the tones, especially in manadarin. Cantonese however sounds easier to learn, though they told me there are six tones! :-(......I am an old man (93 years according to some poll result) and can't remember that well anymore, people say I suffer from Alzheimer, but I also forgot what that was......:-(Prismatic said:Not meaning to stir things up. but just sort of find it a teenie weeny amusing.
Isn't it a bit a hard to find an English forum site in Hong Kong?
It's just like trying to find a Chinese forum in the US.
My view is that if you are going to go overseas, I think it will be nice to try experience the local culture there. It will definitely be easier to click with the people there if you speak their language and all. I certainly dun mean changing everything about yourself just trying to fit in, but as least just make an effort to appreciate the local flavour. Even in a photography forum.

Hi, I have been there a few times, and know many of the shops around Tsim Tsa Shui........as well as some on HK Island, but they tend to be more expensive.....lhjz said:i can show you around some shops when i am free ...
a couple of csers in HK as well...
maybe we can arrange some outings haha
You guys/girls have it easier, probably already have some chinese language background......ok, let's meet up there, that would be nice! David Chan has a nice shop, but that's about it, pretty expensive, but his goods are good quality.lhjz said:fyi cantonese has 8 tones hahaha... not an easy language to master but doable.. i learnt it by watch HK serials heehee
wow.. guess you might know the cheap shops better than me since you are a collector of cameras![]()
