High Fashion In Nature part I

I was going to leave this thread alone. After all, what is the point in beating a dead horse?

However, this comment by the TS prompted me to think again. Since the TS cannot honestly tell me to grow up, I guess I can slam freely with little worry.

In general, this series sucks, big time.

I am not going to comment on the "High Fashion" debate that had been raging. That is beside the point.

The point is, as photographs, neither part 1 nor part 2 delivers.

The really sad part is, the TS had some decent ideas, did go through the trouble of trying to style the model, did drag everyone out to the location, did try with "creative" lighting, but at the end of the day, only one thing counts, delivery.

If the image does not deliver, all the efforts are wasted. This is how I feel about both parts.

It is not underexposing a bit, over exposing a bit, lighting in general is a mess. For example, there were 2 version of pic. 8. Neither worked. It is not exposure, but the lights, where it is coming from. IT is in the wrong place for the location. Just look at the blown highlights on her neck and back of her head.

Same picture, the composition is even worst. If this is a fashion image, showcase the clothes, if this is a glamor image, showcase the model, but the composition is so cluttered that either the model and/or the clothes are lost in the midst.

How to fix no. 8? Trash it and change location and reshoot.

In pic 1, 2, 3 and 4, I will pick on another subject. Pay attention to details. Why is the bra strap showing? Please don't go into the excuse that this is the style. Ok, model wears a bra. Fine. But by not paying to details only made the shot looked sloppy. Just pay attention while shooting, fix the problems first before gunning for the shot.

There are many other problems. Many were pointed out by others. There is no point for me to beat a dead horse.

I will give the TS a pass on efforts, but a glaring failed on delivery of a final decent image.

I've already pointed out the problem and not bluffing over. MOREOVER you've CHANGED the WB that I slammed. Which means "childish" comment is being accepted.

p.s. if being "grown up" is to accept these pictures... I rather be young, uncle.

i personally feel that this series is pretty good, in term of posing and compo... yes lighting need improvement, but i still think it's a good try and pretty decent shoot ! :)

thanks for comment.

i enjoy what u have done with the lighting. i think it is a good job done. in terms of styling, like what most of the ppl here have commented, the styling is definitely not high fashion. not sure who was the one who planned the styling but if it was too hard to pull off, consider doing something simpler. no shame in that.

realised most of the shots are half body ones. personally i thought if u were shooting fashion, u need to showcase the clothing more than the model unless there were some accessories on her that u need a closeup of.

ps. u got the model's name wrong in some parts.

ya typo!
i also wana focus on makeup and hairstyling and her intense look guess i got carried away abit.

mm. the comment wasn't directed to u? u might wana see who i quote.
but anyway u can slam me with or without that comment directing at u.
certain points noted. thanks for comment.

the wb is the same. i just brighten it up. and anyway white balance was never wrong. its obvious that in all photo i add in a purple tint for part 2. go get a spec young boy.

TS, your comment was not directed at me. I read your post, and I choose to reply to that post.

Many here tried to point out how horrible this series is.

Suck it in, take it standing up, learn, you may get better.

Keep on telling others to grow up, to get a spec, may make you feel big for a second, but, that kind of attitude, doubt your photography will ever improve.

Between part 1 and 2, seems like the laundry list of what not to do.

It's ok to screw up, that is the process, how you do next all depends on your attitude.
