Yes...Sony cams are touted to have very nice image quality but it's overpriced for that range.

I think it's because sony's market share in SG is not big enough.. if you stay in US where sony market is bigger, you can get R1 for under 800USD street price, or about S$1300 which is a steal considering the quality... maybe those interested can try to get it in the states instead. I'm so envious of the prices there when I see them online... wanted to order some lens from the states which including postage will still be cheaper than local prices but they don't do international business due to warranty issues. Darn!

I see...Sony products here are rather expensive. When i got my P8 back in early 2004, i bought the entire range of accessories for it and costs nearly $1900!

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this forum and also a newbie in photography. Doing my part in reading past threads now since i know that repeated questions sometimes piss some people off. But you know the search engine got limitation of min 4 charcters search. Thus searching for 'S2', 'FZ5' are not allowed.

Since this thread is on S2, FZ5 and H1, i also interested in this models for my coming new camera. I hope the originator for this thread don't mind i change the subject abit. I got two questions.

1. In the coming March IT show, will the S3 be available to consumer?

2. The S2, FZ5 & H1 are in the megazoom category, if i don't really required the megazoom functions but requires the other features such as Image Stabliser, movie in 640x480 mode, strong flash... okay practically all the other functions except the megazoom, anyone can recommended brand n model of digital camera that i can consider? Compact one please.

My application: Most of the time, indoor shooting and sometimes family gathering shooting. Sad to say, i make a fatal mistake when i bought my first digital camera without doing a proper homework... i bought HP M407... really regret it  . Thus my second one, i shall not make the same mistake.

Your recommendation is greatly appreciated. Thx.

Hmm...u can consider the f11...if nt canon A series...

dunno abt canon but my sony drinks battery!!!! :o
umm i personal think both is just as gd but i strongly suggest u go 4 cam tat comes with view finder. cause when u r running low on batt, lcd screen only cam wouldn't last v long.
i normally switch off my lcd display when shooting...:)

Yeah my P8's info-lithium batt also drains rather quickly, sometimes even when it's 3/4 full, suddenly can become empty!

tat could also mean batt nds replacement. dont overcharge yr batt. but then again, i think sony really drains batt fast.

I didn't overcharge my batteries. I supposed there's some circuitry probs inside.

i'm using a p5, think i got tat problem too. but if switch off the lcd n use view finder, the batt can last much longer. i hate it when i go diving with it, batt always run out b4 i can finish my dive. i can't dive n take pics with the lcd off.

Yeah...i can't use my viewfinder cos the lens adapter's blocking it. I'm ok with the battery utilising its full life but imagine 3/4 full and sometimes half full then suddenly become low batt then the camera shut down automatically.

Haha. mine dsc-p72 cam also same problem. always not enough Batt.

Sorry, juz wanna ask if there is any problem(Batt) for canon ?

I also never use flash if possible cos my infolithium batt drains a lot faster with flash activated.
