eh.. how to compare sigma 17-70 and tamron 17-50 2.8? both seem to have decent performance
Both lenses are very good ones. The Tamron is a constant F2.8 lens, so it might be a better choice if you prefer a constant 2.8 lens. The Sigma 1770 has its advantage at the tele end.
Why not consider the Pentax DA*16-50? It's weather sealed, got SDM built-in, 1mm wider, and it's a Pentax

If really money is an issue, just stick with the kit lens lah. It's been serving alot users quite well, might work for you too
