Yah, the puny penta prism housing.....

Well, the KM Dynax7d has an extremely big and bright viewfinder despite having a similar pentraprism housing and inbuilt flash. Likewise, the film Dynax 7 had a brighter viewfinder than the F100. So it is not impossible, just a matter of when they'll provide it.

Agree, the viewfinder of the KM Dynax 7D is FANTASTIC! Bright and sharp. If only Canon/Nikon could follow their lead....the VF on 20D/D70 is a joke.... :sweatsm:

I hope so too, better food!! Door gift, a Nikon strap would be nice :D or maybe even Nikon optical mouse that uses ED glass with nanocrystal coating

I hope this time Nikon would have more models

Actually I don't know what's the fuss about VFs on the consumer bodies, apart from the size :dunno: true, the D2's VF is like :o but I don't find the D100/D70 VF :thumbsd: also.

Look thru a KM 7D's VF, then look thru a 20D/D100/D70's and tell me what u think. There is a difference. I tried KM's 7D at the recent COMEX and was blown away. If they can put such a nice bright/clear VF in a "prosumer" class cam w/ 1.6x crop sensor and with built-in flash, why not Canon/Nikon?

From D70 to D2X is:o
From D7D to D2X is:think:

Apart from the size, there is also the brightness, makes for easier composition and less eyestrain shooting lowlight. If it weren't an important feature, then the D2x could probably have survived on just a D70 class viewfinder.

Well said, the brighter viewfinder certainly makes it easier to compose stuff and is such a joy to look thru. No more eyestrain or keep having the feeling you are squinting down a long dim tunnel. The size/brightness of the viewfinder does make a difference, and is an important factor because you are always looking thru it when shooting, and also yes it makes it so much easier to work in low lighting conditions.

If I were to ever upgrade, I would definitely want a brighter, bigger viewfinder than my current cam.

I did, I looked thru Drudkh's 7D quite a while ago, I didn't really notice any thing that wow'ed me really. :dunno: Maybe I'm not that concerned with the VF that I didn't realise?

I don't know, maybe because from the start I was on the smaller VF path that I only know bigger is easier to see, but if I'm to go back to a smaller VF, I'm pretty ok with it, the VF of the D2X is so big that sometimes I've having problem seeing the subject and locating it without moving my eyeball :bsmilie:

Well maybe its just you, but when I picked it up and looked thru the VF I could sense the discernible difference, the VF just seemed so bright and cleaner than what I was used to seeing, and this is thru the KM kit lens, imagine if looking thru f2.8 or faster lens, it would be even better.

Well maybe to some ppl it makes a difference, and to some it does not... :dunno: But for me it does.

Sorry for OT-ing...back to the subject! D200....when u think its gonna reach our shores? Some say the first commercial shipment would be just before X'mas (assuming 1st Nov launch date)....so those who wanna early X'mas present better faster pre-order now! :D

Actually all along I never too particular with the VF size and brightness, maybe cause I more bochup? After all on my CP E5700, it was EVF and I was pretty used to it. Maybe I've not yet hit any real life applications that can really make me understand the usefulness of it.

The other day was trying Viewfinder's 120-300 f/2.8 + 2X TC on his D1H, I can see the image is darker, but it doesn't bother me though, I just carry on shooting, maybe if shoot bird then different story?

i'm just looking forward to the Launch party of the D200.

great camera! great lenses! and hopefully, great food and freebies!!!

go Nikon go!

I see before lor, look at D70 VF, then D100, look at D2H VF, suddenly got shock, so big  but to me it was really something good to have then, I was still ok with the smaller VF on the D100 then.

As when it's (D200) supposed to reach, I very long ago gave hints liao go search thru my 24.6K posts to find it. :bsmilie:

Later going to Max PHoto and see if can pre-order or not. Really need it. Update you guyz...
