[ Help ] Which m4/3 to choose?

Well like I said, i used to own a GF3 and the pictures can be tweaked to be very vibrant! Also, if you shoot raw, you can post process however you like. The GF3 was quite good actually.

here's a couple of GF3 shots.. Nothing great compositionally, but just to show the colour.. lightly PP in LR

Wow. the colours i saw were not like that! Okay, I guess its just sales tactic then -_-

Eh, from what the person showed me, he took a few photos of his shop with GF3 and EPL3, the photos from GF3 were dull while EPL3's were very vibrant. Totally not what i'd expect from a GF3, and miles away from the review of GF1 that kandinsky posted earlier.

Does sound a tad suspicious. Not that I'm here to champion any particular camera (You could probably go GF3 or EPL3 and be happy both ways, IMO. But I'll defer to those experienced with the systems.), but if the difference is that stark, it's possible that this salesperson used a custom photo style with reduced saturation/contrast etc...

Using the LUMIX Photo Style Mode, popular color effects can be achieved. These settings can be further enhanced with fine-tuning of Contrast, Sharpness, Saturation and Noise Reduction. Color effects include: Standard, Vivid, Natural, Monochrome, Scenery, Portrait and Custom.

E.g., If you like vivid colours, you can just set to Vivid.

If you look back at the reviews of the GF3, it wasn't well received. It wasn't considered a successor to the GF1, mainly because Panasonic were using the GF3 to go after Sony in their ages old war, and they made a lot of compromises to make a small body.

Panasonic has long had a problem with auto white balance and life-like color (even in my GH3), but every setting can be manipulated and probably many should be.

True. The GF3 made many compromises. That's why I decided to go oly epl5 for my second body. But the gf3 had quite good OOC jpegs using vivid settings. Very close to oly colours. Much better than my gh2 at that time.

Hi guysss! haha thanks for all your advice. It was helpful! :D

Anw, Ive bought the Leica dlux6, and loving it! Its a compact, but packs a whole lot of punch in its small body. :)

Just curious, is dlux6 similar/same as compare to Panasonic LX7?

No issue :) it's a asked to death question I was bothered with too.

Differences are :

- DLux 7's OOC Jpegs output have been tweaked by Leica and look different from OOC Jpegs from LX7.

- Software / Menu layout is different.

- Slight differences in build ; eg: angular buttons (Leica tradition) vs rounded corner buttons.

- Optional grip sold for the DLux 6 which is better than the built in grip for LX7.

Note that if u r shooting RAW, these 2 cameras give the same Raw output so my advice is this is one camera u buy to shoot JPEG in for the Leica tweaked colors.

Lastly , if u r into viewfinders ; pls save money by getting the Pana LVF2 instead of the Leica EVF. Half the price exactly same performance.

OOC JPEG on Auto mode from the DLux 6.
