I was just back from Redang 10 day ago and thought it was a very nice trip! We stayed at Lagoon resort and I love the beach, much better than the one at Tioman Island last time which have rocks all over the place. We booked packages for about S$298/twin room and S$288/triroom, transport/food/activities all inclusive. Suggest u take the twin room coz the other one has the same size just with one more bed. I dont know how good it is in Berjarya but it's fine for me at Lagoon coz basically i dont care much about bed/food when travelling as long as clean and safe.
The trip on bus was about 12 hours from S'pore, arriving at ferry at abt 10am the next morning. Speed boat was quite pleasant. Dont worry about sea sickness. This is not the season having too much wind. Actually I wish the trip on the sea could be longer.
Different from Tioman, you can see lots of fish very near the shore. Do prepare a coca bottle and pack it with bread. You can use it to attract fish. They are very willing to enjoy your bread but I was never able to catch a single one (oops I did try it!). At a corner there are many small sharks and I tried hard to catch them :bsmilie: but they were just too shy to play with me. I found I didn't need any mask or lifejacket to see the underwater world. A goggles was enough. At the beginning I was a bit nerverous, after a while became completely confident to swim in the open sea. My friends took some underwater pix but not very contrasty or sharp so you may try if haven't tried b4 otherwise forget it.
I was told Redang is newly developed so cleaner than Tioman. We tried to find the place where Summer Mo Mo Tea was shot. Drunk some coconut juice and took some pix with the Malay guys, hehe.
As I brought an image tank over so we were never short of storage space. We had 4 digicams in total and one SLR for slides. Its a pity i didnt get D60 a few days earlier otherwise...
Suggest u go off the beach to a rocky place. My friends took some very nice pix with blue sky/sea, golden rock/sun shine etc in the afternoon. Very sure you would have a wonderful trip, good luck and dont forget to post your best pix after you're back.
