TS quiet already. Must be overwhelmed by us haha.
One point u do see appearing is that it is important to spend time knowing your needs. There will always be a better spec camera. Know your needs and from there the decision will come proper. TS will realize that seasoned shooters generally don't have headaches (only heartache) deciding on buying the next body or lens. So far the guys i see shooting very often and well on the A7 are those who really know their glasses and generally at ease with the basics of photography.
If TS is just starting, I'd say the A7 isn't really suitable at the moment. The 36mps will prob give u more angst than joy with the lack of in body stabilisation. That camera is a beast but as shared, not easy to handle. The EM-1 is without doubt easier to handle with the excellent 5-axis IBIS but even i found it too over-powered (still feeling this way) for my needs. I'm happy using a Pentax Q10 at times even.
The EM5 or the Sony Nex system is a good start for a beginner.
However if TS is a seasoned shooter, then no doubt go straight for either the EM-1 or A7 or even A7R. And if that is the case, i'm sure u will find your answer without much deliberation.

Yes i do agree with you.
But TS and others in similar positions need to understand as well some of the key technicalities so that they can make a better informed decision.
Else, their expectations might just be way higher than the results in the end
For many people starting out, isn't that the case? Because so many think that better camera better lens equals better pictures..
They fail to realise it is the person behind the camera.

As much as I like the sony, I'd have to recommend the m43s to you.
Why? This is because the genres that you are shooting do not require much low light capabilities or depth of field control. Faster AF, IS for any lenses, and perhaps the touchscreen is what would benefit you the most.

That's a sad fact of life.
Just like how Auto-transmission/ABS cars were supposed to improve the comfort in driving, but it didn't improve the skills of the driver to adapt to road conditions by themselves like how it was with Manual Transmission

Kit lens will do fine. Once you are familiar with its capabilities (and limits) you will automatically know which other lens you might need.
TS, I'm in the same situation as you and will stay away from Sony.
Got burned by the Nex 5 and the lack of lens and the lacklustre AF. Should have gotten a GF1 instead.
Now saving up for a M4/3 system.
U can definitely call Oly Svc Ctr and ask whether they've the EM-1 on display , if got u can play with it till your fingers cramp
If they still do not have it on display , I will just go my 'long term' shops in Funan and ask to try it out.
But bro , if u have just gotten the GX7 , I don't recommend u trying the EM-1. Just the diff in EVF is enough to make u wana sell the GX7. The only strengths GX7 has over the EM-1 to me is that it's a smaller package and that it's more affordable.
You can go to the Courts Sale at Suntec today and tomorrow. They have an Olympus stand. There is an E-M1 with 12-40mm lens fitted for you to try out.

Personally, I will wanna make sure I buy the best camera that I can afford with my budget. Or even continuing to save and make sure I get the one which I feel is good for me. I was shooting with MF3 Panasonic GX1. The camera was really nice, light and the pictures were great. But I find the ergonomics a bit not to my liking and I really prefer shooting with a viewfinder. At times, I started to blame my not so nice pictures on the equipment which I am holding which is definitely not the real reason since there are so many other GX1 shooters out there who produces fantastic image.
I changed to the Nikon D7100. Which I feel is the best I can afford with a bigger sensor etc etc. Now if any pictures are not good I definitely knows it's not the camera. It's me. Read up more forums and shoot more to brush up my skill. Not put my blame on the equipment. And if you do buy any system, find out what you like to shoot and get the lens that is good for it. It will make a whole world of difference to the images that you take. Not that kit lens bad. But some lens are just better in certain circumstances.

Really straightforward as there's a dedicated button to HDR on EM-1 so no more digging in menus.
Button's on the left side main dial. Press it once and u can choose between 3 or 5 shots HDR with even more customization allowed. Select preference and shoot.
After pondering for so long, I still cannot seems to decide which camera (EM1 or GX7) to get. I like the size and handling of the GX7 but it has Optical Low Pass filter and the stabilization is not as good. The body is not weather sealed too. What I also like about the GX7 is that it is Made in Japan rather than Made in China like the EM1. The EM1 has 5-axis stabilization which is superb and it does not comes with Optical Low Pass filter and the body is weather sealed! Then again, the size of EM1 is like a DSLR and it is quite heavy with the 12-40mm lens. But seeing all the amazing and excellent reviews regarding this beast, one can't help but wanting to own this camera.

The one thing that make huge difference now is not the camera, but ur photography skill.

As for what lens to get, go with the kit lens first, shoot more and u will know what lens to get.
GX7 is on super sale in Taiwan... very cheap.
