You need a complete upgrade if you wanna play new games... I'm setting aside $2k for my upgrade in Jan. Hopefully by then I can get better specs (maybe 2x8800GTX SLi?) :sweatsm:

but now u got brand new comp liao mar :)

anywayz, think right now i can only monitor parts prices..... coz i like to build it myself...but then again.....haiz...maybe following year .... maybe if computer catch fire or something liddat first

the guys on HWZ recommended it for price + performance..as it fits my budget. since im not a gamer.

got everything from videopro. since they have the lowest price. ;)

cheescake: u can go for the 6400 (2mb cache) and u can save $200-300. i went for the 6600 (4mb cache) chip as i know i wont be upgrading for a while already.

 i'm not a gamer. my pc will prob last me for another 5-6yrs. so i'll b goin for the highest spec that my $$ can stretch.

cheers, thanks for ur input!

Oh yes, try not to get things from VP. At times their stock come in from overseas and therefore not covered by local wty but by themselves. YMMV

My preference...Base on Fuwell pricelist last weekend :)

Intel C2D 6300 + Gigabyte 965P DS3 $565 (This chip is very easy to overclock, so running anything higher than its stock speed is already a bonus) http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2802
http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/motherboards/article.php/3639376

PC5300 Kingston DDR2 512MB x 2 $192 (Life time warrranty from Convengent if not wrong, what else can you say?)

Seagate 320GB Sata2 (make sure it's 7200.10) $166 http://www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/marketing/po_barracuda_7200_10.pdf

Asus EN7600GS Silent 256MB DDR2 PCI-E graphic card $192(Decent performer and I like passive heatsink design, no fan, no noise, I myself using a Gigabyte 6600)

Sony DRU-830A 16x DVD +-RW $75 or Pioneer or NEC if you can find one, I more incline to Japanese brand when come to optical drive, no reason, just brand concious

Verudium Vorte 430W PSU $119 (This one got a lot of recommendation at VRzone and I am using one, stable, quite and drive my overclocked AMD 3200 very well :)

Total - $1309, no need to sell more cheesecake.....you still have $191 for nice and fancy casing, anything from Coolermaster or Lian li will compliment your little workhorse

wow!! sounds good! but can up the ram to 2gb? think ram is very important.

siao liao lor
then that one take a backseat. slowly. alot of $$ is involved

get a good CPU cooler, and you can overclock the lowest end which is 6300 to the highest end 6800extreme speed(other than 2mb vs 4mb cache) easily...
