Just for the fun of guessing...
The yellow specks are too polished to be of sand or pebbles
The curvature of these yellow specks suggest that are fragments of the outer hard shell of some seeds.
Insects are known to feed on the unabsorbed nutrients of bird droppings.
:think:My educated guess : The surface is the excreta of a seed eating bird.
