Must it only be run via an external battery pack?
How's the battery life & transfer speed?
I once had a x-drive, it was horrendously slow, took 20 over mins to transfer 1GB and the battery didn't even last 3GB of data transfer.
Any manufacturer website or specs on this device?

Is it as good as the compactdrive (www.compactdrive.com)?
The compactdrive can supposedly transfer 35GB on just a set of AA batteries and the transfer rate is ultra fast at 5MB/s which roughly means 512MB in less than 2 mins.

Decisions, decisions...

I think the thread is vanishing soon......

Yah, the writing speed, interface speed to computer is how fast? :dunno:

Do you have any picture of the device couple with External Battery pack?

Looks cool, might check it out this weekend...

any website for the product?

Hmmmm never heard of this brand b4  .
Is it reliable??

Just checked HardwareZone, the price of a 2.5" HDD is around $140 to $150 so in essence, the barebone of this device would be just slightly over $100 which is extremely attractive if the transfer rate is as fast as the compactdrive.

Just for comparison, the 40GB equivalent for the compactdrive on the web would have cost $399...

You can get a CompactDriver (40gb) from AP for $330 or $360 (60gb) :D Just saw a guy bought the 40gb one there last Sat.

Cheers!

Does it dump RAW files in ur CF over to the HDD?

No point for me if it doesn't dump RAW files :(

Oh if that is the case, the online price probably is inclusive of delivery. But then think about it, this new gadget actually has a Video out port for viewing your photos to TV!

I have never trust data storage unless i have physical proof that the pictures are indeed being backup and being able to connect this device to TV and showing proof of it does seems promising.

But this is all on paper. Unless i see it for myself what this nifty device can really do and how realiable it is else i would take it with a pinch of salt....

However, the price is extremely attractive....

if you get compactdrive from eastgear, ap etc ..note that not all CF cards it can read ...transcend it one that gives errors ...

Understand MemoryWorld will be bundling their Archos 80Gb with the FM radio and remote for $1399. Just tested the machine just awsome. Transferred a 2Gb CF with 1.03Gb data inside in 4 mins 20 sec. Large screen to view Jpeg and recording from cable is just fantastic. If price is not a concern than this would be the device to get.

Was at the booth today, hoping to check it out and make a comparison with Eastgear's compactdrive, but to my dismay.... the guy said,"Come Back tommorow, stock come by then...."....

What a disappointment, came all the way to Expo, riding, raining, wet like S#@* and he says that.....

It really makes my day... NOPE.... ;(

But from what I see from the phamlet, it looks slick and good too... but NO write/read speed, etc... only tells you it does this and that.... Ask the sales guy hows the speed like and he says fast... how fast.... DUNNO fast... hahahaha... ask him whether it supports RAW, he says I need to convert first.... This only shows that the sales guy don't really know his product well.

Hope someone can enlighten me too...

Most of the promotors at exhibitions are part-timers, sad to say, they are not well trained enough; eg knowledge of their products.

Same here I feel disappointed too.. as the shipment have been delayed...

Sorry for disappointed you guys...
The shipment for this new product have been delayed.
It might not be exhibited on these 2 days. I will try to update you guys about the latest news.:) What I heard is the latest will arrive on Saturday, but this is still not confirm. Sad..

There are few questions as below:
1.)What is the writing speed?
The writing speed is not as fast as compact drive. When I tried on the PCB board it takes around 45 seconds to transfer 20MB+ file. But think that is not the final product. So I will update you guys agian for the speed. ;)

2.)Does it dump RAW files in ur CF over to the HDD?
YES, i tried on my CF by using RAW file and are all safely transfered over.

3.)Do you have any picture of the device couple with External Battery pack?
The final version of the battery pack is on the way as we are holding the older version battery pack. Will upload the image once we got the final product.

Agree with ckbekeong that "think about it, this new gadget actually has a Video out port for viewing your photos to TV!" This feature is more attracting as it can view video and photos slide on TV. Which can share with family by using TV instead of the monitor in room. :)

It is a normal portable hard disk size with card reader slot besides, it is smaller, thinner and lighter than other Databank as the battery is external.

Sorry for disappointed you guys as the stuff is not available on these two days. Sorry indeed. Will update you guys once got any news. Sorry again.

45sec for 20Mb is rather slow leh.
Imagine over 35min for 1Gb
BTW RAW files can be transferred as with any other files but can it be displayed on TV for viewing ?. If yes what RAW files does it support ?

3 Questions:

1. How many AA batteries does it need?
2. How long does it last with batteries?
3. Can it operate from AC direct?

I know after I reply this message, almost everybody would like to kill me...
I sincerely apologize to everybody who interested to this product as the shipment could not be arrived on time due to some technical problem. That means you could not get the Databank in SITEX. SOrry for those have travelled all the way down to SITEX and get nothing.
We promise to provide the same promotion price for one month once the stock is arrived, this is to apologize to all that have coming down to SITEX all the way and get nothing.

Anyway there is some updates about the accesories that included:
1. The Casing with Card Reader slots
2. Power Adapter to power up the player when you connect to TV
3. Video and Audio cable
4. Remote control
5. External Battery pack (Required 4xAA Batteries)
6. USB Cables

Again sorry for the delay and trouble caused to you guys. :(

Dissapointed man :( went today but never saw the device.

Anyway i was lucky to come across the compact drive at eastgear. Took me 4 mins just to complete 1GB of data. Too bad no money.

No way anybody is gonna wait 35 mins just to dwl man 1GB SoNn7. Its just too slow. Even my x drive pro is faster.
