hey guys!! i've exchanged a GP powerbank 2hr charger for free.... I approached a young man name Jason. i told him that the Sanyo charger is not an intellignent charger and then told him what happened.. he just give me the intellignt charger.. he say 1 for 1!! ;) shiok! that smart charger cost $46 at other shops n i paid $25 for that sanyo charger.... great! then after a while i went to ask a guy named peter for the price of a 128mb CF card... he told me $85!! $10 off another guy's quote man... i didn't bargain as i think that's a reasonable price.. BTW that guy who sold me the Sanyo charger was there but i didn't give a damn.. oh just for info, Ridata CF card for 256mb was quote by Peter at $150..

Good for you!!!!!!!! Congrats for making such a wonderful purchase! :)

Lesson learnt, friends. NEVER shop at SLS unless you're dead sure of the price.

It's not only a matter of money. It's the anguish and disappointment that's unleashed on you, when you realise you've placed trust on the salesman yet reciprocated with utter dishonesty, that makes you cringe.

Personally I'd rather spend more at CP than to risk getting heart burn at AP.

Talk about SLS and their sales people, I have a story to relate....(but not very relevent, so please don't flame me......for info only, ok?:embrass: )

I was there a while back to buy games for my Gameboy Advanced. A young man quoted me a price which I thought was rather reasonable. Being the typical Singaporean, I asked for a further discount. He asked his supervisor and was scolded on the spot for under-quoting me. That supervisor said he had to let the 'boss' decide. The boss was told and he punched that poor boy right before my eyes! :rbounce: After that he said sorry and he couldn't sell at the quoted price, but offered to sell me at 'cost' (which was about $10 more)

If I bought the game it would have implied that I condoned his beating up that kid, so I promptly said 'no' and walked out.

Sigh.....don't want to stereotype but a lot of shops in SLS is but one of the places in Singapore that's runned by thugs. :dunno:

He's prolly a member of clubsnap, and had read all these postings. :p

I noticed on my visit there (AP) last week there's always a young chap around.. so he's Jason? .... should try returning my Tokina lens for a 1 to 1 exchange for a Canon L lense.... hee hee :D

i realised that prices at AP really differ from sales person.
i remember some time ago, i went to ask the price of the F65D kit. Jason quoted me $660 with all the 'freebies'. the next week when i returned, another guy which i dunno the name, quoted me $788 .
as Jason was not around, he kept telling me that $660 is an impossible price and told me he could only reduce to $740 if i didn't want the freebies. after a long time of to-ing and fro-ing on the phone, the guy finally relented and allowed me to get it at $660.
after which, he said that he's going to charge 3% GST on the price, which i stupidly paid. only after some time, did i learn from my friends that prices quoted are inclusive of GST. and they actually work out the GST from the quoted price when they write a receipt.
somehow..i really felt quite cheated. it's really hard to trust SLS shops. not worth going thru all the trouble at all.

I'm the self-appointed camera geek in my cliques.

What I do is tell them NEVER EVER go SLS. When they ask for recommendations of stores to shop for cameras, I always bring up

1. CP
2. Fotoguide
3. John 3:16

And they'll ask 'How abt SLS?'
I say SLS is good for buying comp stuff. Go there if you want to get ripped buying anything else.

Why go there thinking you'll get a good price and service when all evidence prove otherwise?

I remember a post some time back. A CS member said he always gets wonderful service when he visits AP. He said he's free to take things out from the cabinets and free to try all their lenses and gear. Reason? He spent quite a bomb at AP. Considered their 'Gold Card' member, I suppose. Is this the kind of 'service' we expect to get? To get proper service from SLS stores only cos our wallets are fat and waiting to be hooked?

Stay away from SLS unless you're buying comp stuff or know someone well there. That's the moral of my story.

Speaking of SLS game shops...
There was one unhappy incident with my friend getting his PS2.
He was one of the early adopters of PS2, and at that time, there were different variants of PS2 (10000, 15000 blah blah).

He wanted to get a 10000( I think), but he was given a 15000, even though the box and label stated it was a 10000....
He found out that it was a 15000 by checking the software.
