Sam or John :dunno:
Wat was so funny that made you laugh![]()
get the d200 or d80 (2k+) and the first lens must be a nikon 50mm f1.8....
Hey Guys!
Thank you for such wonderful replies and suggestions...
I decided to get the D80 with some good lens, When I reached Alan Photo (the shop was closed) then wandered around and found John 3:16, the guy showed me D200 & the D80, immediately fell in love with the 200
My wife also "ORDERED" me to get the D200 instead :bsmilie:
So my lens choice was limited, I got a Tam 17-50 2.8 and the 50 1.8
Next week I am going to get the SB800 as some of the bros suggested.
SO this is how all my planning went down the drain haha... Now I am a proud owner of a wonderful D200 kit
Thank you guys again, time to rush out to sentosa to try my new toy out hehehe...
Best Regards.
D200 I think is perfect when paired with a 18-200VR, but of course excellent with a 17-55 F2.8. I absolutely feel that a Nikkor will outperform and out-shoot any TAMRON, TOKINA or SIGMA lens. It ended costing me more $$$ to sell away these 3rd party lenses n buy Nikkor lenses. Just my 2 cents.
But in what way? I am still wondering if my current decision to do with a two lens system (18-70 & 70-300) for my D200 is a wise one. I used to do 18-200 only with my Canon, and I seem to be finding myself trying to overcome the inconvenience of a lens change...To be absolutely honest, I think the 18-200 is far from perfect on a D200. Versatile, yes, but definitely not perfect.

Humm, 50mm doesn't work for everyone.
Great lens choices. The Tamron may be a third-party lens, but it sure puts some original manufacturer zooms to shame.
I think this "Nikkor outperforms any thirdparty brand" train of thought is really narrowminded, and is just a sweeping statement. Sometimes, you just have to look to third party offerings due to
i) Budget constraints; if selling your third party lenses to get Nikkors which basically perform almost on par is, IMHO, an unwise usage of funds, especially if the third party offering can do a decent job. Offhand, the Tokina 12-24 is one example.
ii) No equivalent from the original manufacturer; I got the Sigma 100-300 because Canon doesn't make anything of equivalent range and constant f/4 aperture. Sometimes, when you require a certain range of focal lengths, and original manufacturers just don't make anything of that range, you just don't have a choice.
You mentioned it costs you to sell your third party lenses to get Nikkors. Maybe getting Nikkors for the sake of the branding (or so, it seems) wasn't so worth it huh?

I mean the person who attend most likely is Samuel right? the boss of John 3:16
Should be boss son...:bsmilie:I mean the person who attend most likely is Samuel right? the boss of John 3:16
I wouldn't recommend the D80 because it's matrix meter is defective and results in inconsistent exposures. I upgraded to the D80 from the D70s but it didn't last long. The last straw came when a large majority of outdoor/shade shots I took were ruined and I got the D200 and sold the D80.but why take D200 when the D80 is not much diff
Should be boss son...:bsmilie:
Oh, I am not sure about his name but he was a cheerful thin guy... If I remember him, the others were calling him John!
May be mistaken, will see him tomorrow again and confirm his name hehe...
Regards.
It's Samuel. There's no John there. John 3:16 is a Bible Verse; the shop owners are Christians.
portrait and landscape? why not sigma 50-150 f2.8 and 17-50...
