was with zenten when he try out the cam the k10d exhibit some kind of lemonade flavour colour cast which cannot even be eradicate by preset wb and adjustment of k temp after much meddling with it was finally countered thru adjustment colour shift...it not the normal orange cast as the case for most dslr under artificial lightning.

Orh.

*shrug*

the tungsten WB is an approximation, and whether it works depends on the actual colour temperature.

Manual WB...

The other thing I was tihnking of, it it happens all the time was that the lens in use was a takumar 50 1.4 which was yellow :D.

ops i mean custom wb instead of preset wb
custom wb should be able to eradicate the colour cast regardless of the made of the lens. if not the k temp should also be able to counter such problem too.
not sure where the problem ly as when testing under similar condition with a km5d and canon 20D both do not have such prob

Hey, any of you guys wanna buy the WhiBal cards? I'd like to buy one myself, but love to have someone to buy together so we can share the shipping cost ;)

This would be good cure for WB setting I think.

Please pm me if interested :)

it will be of no help/use at all
dun forget i had already tried my diyed grey/wb card to do the custom wb on yr camera.
u had to do some minor adjustment even u set the cwb with whitbal not sure does it only happened to yr set only...u got a lemon?

mind sharing which particular eBay seller you got it from? I presume you bought from a online seller rather than from individual?
I believe my seller was a small camera store. Good communication and even worked out expedited shipping for me. Fortunate to have a good seller.

My suggestion is to don't rush headlong but do your research before bidding. I try to avoid those from Canada or the UK for the following - higher shipping cost, exchange rate, and one seller has the lousy habit of ending auctions early if the bids aren't high enough. :thumbsd:

Thanks seafone for the info on the redemption of Pentax USA rebate. I actually have a close relative residing in the US and can claim the rebate if I needed to, but I may just forget about the paperwork hassle. Already saved about S$200 enough lah! Registration can be done online.

Yes, if you shoot RAW. With the help of this WhiBal card, it's very easy to adjust WB in software ...

So anyone interested? I'll pull the trigger and get one, but love to have someone sharing the shipping cost ;)

Sign me up for one card! How much is 1 piece estimated to be?

Thanks Bro. One card costs US$29.95, shipping for one is US$12.50, shipping for two is US$13.50, shipping for three is US$18.75, shipping for four is US$19.75 ...

I was thinking of getting either 2 or 4 based on their asking price for shipping...

ok, Feng Wei, count me in!

HI all
Why a grey card and not a white one? Won't the grey give the wrong colour level to the camera's sensors? :dunno:

cheers

Actually any card (better be a light color one) can be used for manual white balance setting. But this WhiBal card comes in handy when you shoot RAW but have problem deciding which color temperature to select when converting those RAW files. You can put the WhiBal card in the scene where you are shooting at, later on just select the grey color on the WhiBal card and set it as pure grey, then start from there. It's alot easier than trying and guessing the temperature value I think :)

Besides, heard that this WhiBal card won't change color even it gets scratched or after long time of use, not like those cheap Kodak gray cards ...

i used EXPODISK more than 3 years, very good product.

i am cheap so my lumiquest softscreen acts as my white card lol
