Getting into DSLR world but with a D40 or D60?

...if you are unlikely by your own assessment to get very indulgent in this hobby - D60 / D40x / D40

...if you are somewhat likely to get very indulgent in this hobby - D90 / D80.

...if you go siao one in this hobby - D300 / D200.

...if you go very siao one in this hobby - D700 (forget D3 unless you need the truly pro-features).

But if still debating between D60 and D40 and the price difference is about $100 - D60.

ya loh.. agreee. serious if i buy now i will go for D40 or D60 whichever cheaper . i dunno why also. My first cam was a D40 great experience. Now i have moved on to a D80 but if anyone ask a D40 is def worth the $$. get it 2nd hand maybe??

Don't see a point in getting the D40, second hand. If want second-hand get a good second-hand those bigger guns like, D70, D80, D200, D300. I know its (D40) good value and all but the D60 also good value what, and some-more only $100 difference and gives you much better feature. I think some kind chap has got them listed down for you. (Mutant that is.)

Agreed brother! Thats why I got the D700....

Don't know and don't really care to know. I only go siao one, so I bought D300 (along with a D60 for light photography on outing with my kids). I not so very siao one, so sorry.
