Getting caught for photography, by Police

you should try wisma atria. i was trying to snap the aquarium, stupid hero there came up behind and shouted "no photograph allowed" when i turn around to see who was it he continued to walk on his way and I shouted back "IS THAT SO?" and continued to shoot. He didn't even turn around or faced me when talking to me. Spoilt my mood to shoot totally.

I shot there too at the aquarium. My children even go beyond the barriers. Nothing happens.:dunno: Dunno where the photos is now, I go search my archives.

Btw Parkview Square, the grandest most oppulent building here, photography isnt allowed in the lobby.

But somehow a Caucasian friend of mine managed to shoot inside. :dunno:

they even stopped us when we were shooting outside at their mini waterfall, but din stop this other chap with a pns digicam..

i was shooting at a canal at the sunset way jogging track and a police car drove in the path way of the track. odd. they saw me and did not stop haha!

I was shooting the abandoned railway bridge few days ago a Sunset Way. Yes, shooting sunset. Sunset across the river is very beautiful. Yes, police car drove right by me. :bsmilie:

Thanks for all the discussions on this subject, now I know what to do when I am in your country. Wonder what they will do to us tourist. Guess I just need to shoot all the tourist places then to play safe. It looks like everybody with a camera on hand is a suspect.

shot at pandan reservior sunset. tripod and all. the PUB truck guys drove by and told me it was a sensitive area. the reservior was a sensitive area. so i told him i wasnt going to bomb anything with my photographs ( unless my tripod tumpled down the rocks and *splash* ), and he mumbled something that sounded like he was saying it because he's suppose to be saying it, before driving off.

Rats.. then I forsee a lot of hassle this time around when my and my colleagues will be roaming the city to take pictures to the theme of "Our City" for in-company photo competition.

No wonder most of my photo enthusiast friends just end up taking plant, bird, and insect pictures.

haha! i agree....i've sort of developed a phobia of taking interiors. End up i'm taking plants, trees, skies, cats and moon....ants....

I doubt the Ministry of Law will give legal advice - the position many government bodies take is that they do not give out legal advice. Even getting a clarification on the law (ie not advice but what the statute means) is an uphii struggle.

Still, lets wait and see.

Well, I checked with my friends from PUB reservoir management. Sorry that you had an unpleasant experience at Pandan reservoir. In the past, the reservoirs were restricted and public access is limited, as they were considered key resources ( well, we don;t have any natural resources.Recently, the reservoirs have been open for public use to the extend of using the water bodies for water activities, which in the past was not allowed.We are most welcome to take photographs in the reservoirs. The only restriction is not to photograph PUB installations, which are considered as high security installations in Singapore. That's why we now have security guards at such key installations.
