Ah sorry , would the art filter effects also applies when we shoot RAW on the EP1 ?

Yes, art filter effects can also be applied to raw images. that's what the brochure says. I haven't personally tried it though

Also - would you be able to say whether any of these images are not repeatable with a LX3 or G10?

These images can be taken with a simple 3MP digicam.

Sometimes C users just cannot accept the fact that Oly can do such wonders.:bsmilie:
I have one and I know the power lol....

i love the pics weekh, beautiful most of it, post #24 , 3rd and fourth picture love it

I am curious, are your images completely without Post Processing? They are appear very saturated. Helpful also to know if you did any sharpening.

Images are reduced in size from the jpg files without post processing.
The Olympus has unique Art Filter features which I liked. So some of the images u see here mayl not be possible with G10 or LX3 without going through some post processing work.

weekh,

Post #24: image 3 uses pop art and image 4 uses multiple exposure with overlaying? I also like #1 for the contrast -- bright yellow on deep blue. Great stuff!!

E-P1 samples in crappy lighting situation :
Place : Wet Market at midnight
Lighting : Overhead industrial lights (mercury lamps)
Generally a greenish cast on all jpgs
Camera : E-P1 with 17mm pancake f2.8 lens

We have seen in the last photowalk that the E-P1 is a good performer in good daylight.
I decided to go a nightshoot (without flash of course) at a local wet market.
Lighting in those places are generally horrible with a greenish cast. Did not shoot in RAW this
time, so that I can see how the jpgs can corrected and how usable are they even when shot
under this less-than-ideal lighting situation.
Here are my findings/images :

Right outside the food market I ran into these two sweet little siblings.
Cannot help but to shoot them. ISO 800 in warm florescent lighting.
They are still young adults and very energetic. Only had 60% keepers.
(need a class from "tomcat" for shooting these kitties).

Thanks very much for your reply. I am quite impressed with the images as it comes out nicely saturated and not over done by the camera (I find that the saturation on the P&S cameras not visually appealing).

But after seeing micocosm's photos, I am convinced that the PEN is going to be a success with lots of enthusiasts looking for a useable small format camera.

I was looking for a visible difference in the IQ to convince myself that the PEN is deserving replacement to the high end P&S I have. While there is outstanding sharpness on my P&S, it lacks the thin DOF I crave for with wider aperture lenses.

Having said that, would the micro 4/3 sensor have the same level of bokeh on a good 50mm f1.4 prime?

I hope someone here could share a portrait with a fast prime so I can study the bokeh quality. Thanks!

I really like this series and how the images are resolved. One question - what lens - and settings - did you use for this shot?

This is a follow on question to my earlier post - would the bokeh, if a 50mm or 85mm f1.4 was used - be better and smoother?

DOF on the E-P1 will be the same as the regular Four Thirds camera. If someone has a 30mm f1.4 and can bring it down this weekend at the ClubSNAP exhibition and workshops at Singapore Arts Museum, we can do a test.

If you have other lenses, we can do a test.
