both..I had the 20mm F1.7 since day 1 when GF1 was released..I did not realised it had so MUCH PROBLEMS as listed here till I read this thread...or is it simply because I am not too discerning having just jumped into M4/3 from Pt and shoot..

Some people are just more fussy. I hv no issues with my 20 mm. It's my MOST used lens. Just enjoy your equipment and have faith in them.

Wow! Nice, but doff very very narrow

Dunno, I can't really shoot a decent pix so my 20mm is almost a permanent fixture on my camera.

more pics, all shot at F1.4..focusing pt at the eyes..

bro, where did you get ur Voigtlander 25mm? price>?

Bought on BnS... 4 figure sum, not much drop from chiif's price. :)

MF is (for me) just as fast as my 20mm/ f1.7. That one hunts, and has noise, especially at close distances. It sometimes also AF lock on the wrong thing. With MF I get great control, and I love that MF allows me to focus to infinity at small apertures easily. Oh, but that's cos I gave in and bought a VF2 to do focus. (BEAUTIFUL, and will come in useful with my MF macro lens too).

The black lens, black VF2, and black leatherette on silver EP3 looks great btw!

Tested the lens yesterday with the intention of buying.

My first reaction was 'Wah so big!!'. After mounting on, I feel the lens is taking away my silver ep3 limelight. I believe many of us here who are using Oly pens users here buy due to the retro/stylish/sleek look of the camera. IMHO even though the lens is make of Leica it doesn't impress me.

So much on the appearance, I took a few pics with comparison to the Panny 20mm, I personally finds that the difference is marginal.

For those who have extra cash go get it else plssss CONSIDER first.

End up like one of the bro here, I walked out of the store empty handed with wallet full of withdrawn cash.

there was a comparison between the 20mm and 25mm on someone's blog. the only 2 questions are

1)are you willing to pay more for a marginal improvement in performance
2)is size not an issue?

only people that answer yes to 1 and 2 should get the 25mm

Honestly, if there's one reason not to get the Panasonic 20mm, is that the bokeh on the 20mm is harsh in not so ideal lighting conditions.

The bokeh on the 25mm looks so much better.

But if you are a random cheapskate etc, I guess bokeh isn't something on your list of things to care about.

Great to find someone who share my same sentiments than to give a generic comments and just say "great lens, go buy it" which is sometimes very misleading. Of course, each has its own definition of "great".

Of course this 25mm is good, esp so for a $800 if u consider it a leica. But its not really better than 20mm.

Af noise is something i want to ask all bros here to test thoroughly before u buy whether u can accept the wierd noise.

If u ask me, i would say i rather buy the 20mm and use the extra cash to buy the good 14mm.

If i wanted great bokeh, to be honest, i wouldnt even look at m4/3.

hahaha yah.. I bought m4/3 cos of the size & looks.

May consider the Panny 20mm too & use the balance to buy my VF-2

Why not? Din u realize that the 45 f1.8 supposed to give u nice bokeh? Due partly to large aperture and small focusing distance ability.

Din u realise its not avail yet? Wait till its here.

Anyway it wont be a useful day to day uaage lens at 90mm.

Just an example lar. Wat abt the 12/2 or the noktons at f0.95 or f1. The 4/3 50 f2 also v nice bokeh.

Of course if we include 3rd party or manual focus lenses, then theres so much other alternatives. However if i really want to play with exotic lenses, i think the nex cameras with peeking will be a better alternative, esp so with better high iso.

As of now, in terms of native m4/3 lenses, only 45/1.8 looks promising if one is looking for great bokeh.

But as i mentioned as well as another bro, m4/3 main attract is its small size and affordable price, bokeh definitely is not a main consideration.

I went down to test the 25mm again & I'm 100% convince not getting in. The size totally put me off & also the noise when I'm trying to focus.

Thus my 5cent worth of advice is Panasonic 20mm. Save the balance $$ for either a VF or perhaps some other stuffs.

The difference is really maginal. :)

Don't forget close focusing distance. For what I use it for, the 25mm's minimum focus distance is too great.

Personally I think some shops, like slrr, thought this wouldn't sell well so they really slashed the price to try to move stocks. But that had a really good impact on sales so even SLRR increased prices :)

My regular shop guys also agree with me privately that if alr have the 20mm, no pt getting the 25mm.
