Hi All,

I was wondering for all the existing G9 owners, how do you power the G9 when you travel to places without any AC sockets?

Is there a 3rd party solution to power the camera or to charge the G9 battery without any AC sockets?

I love the design and photos of the G9 but i am planning to bring the G9 for trekking as well. These trekking places are unlikely to have any AC sockets for charging.

Anyone notice that when the G9 hotshoe is mounted with the hotshoe cover,the flash function can't work.
I remember i ever saw same thread here but the page is too much for me to search.
Any solution for the flash once the hotshoe is mounted with hotshoe cover?

i have no problem wif the flash function when the hotshoe covered.
Are u using a metal made hotshoe cover? if yes, try not to short the pins on the hot shoe..

Actually i am using Nikon htoshoe to mount on it...Maybe it's not compatible..

Hi guys... would you share your experience and knowledge on how far your G9 can serve your expectation of a "dSLR like" compact camera in exploring photography?

I'm quite curious of this matter of thing since some of my "hardcore" photography colleagues consider G9 as compact and nothing more and even consider Lumix LX3 as a better competitor in advanced compact battle compares to G9.

Its a matter of preference and needs if u don't wanna lug a 2kg DSLR with all kinds of gears batteries etc ard the G9 is for you. If u really need blurdy good photos with low noise than a 5D is the minimum (those 400Ds and 40Ds just don't cut it in the noise dept). I've been a user of the G series since the G1 thus am very comfortable with its design and feel ! I had a Panasonic once and the noise was real bad thus I've nvr looked back !

U never have to buy a lens with the G9 (less the occasional WA/TC) and it gives you the control of a DSLR after years of shooting with DSLRs I've finally decided to put them all awy and just use this I am sure you have seen lovely photos taken with this the G series much much better than those "friends" of yours that commented that its a compact and they likely own "hardcore" cameras but shoot crap photos. Of course DSLRs would offer more functions but how often do u use them and do u really have a need for such high resolutions/fine detail ?

Some G9 samples NOT shot by me just trying prove that the G9 is a great cam in good hands !

i.e.: shoot normal and post process to IR effect ? doubt its possible unless u r a wiz @ PS which I am totally not. Here's a tuitorial though on using a G9 to shoot IR note its more like "IR" but the effects are nice none the less
