Hi Cyberj,
I got mine from HK. I think it is about low to mid 700+. But no or few freebies. One of the reasons why cheaper is cos no GST.

Hey Cyberj,
I just got my G9 at the start of Aug this year from Hong Kong. I got it at ~S$645 in one of the camera shops in Mongkok. The following freebies were given during the promotion: 4Gb Memory stick, spare battery, mini tripod and the soft case for the camera. Hope this will help.

May i know what do u mean by 'auto' or 'manual'? Are u asking about focusing mode?
If u are asking focusing mode, i use both.
If you are asking about the shooting mode, normally i shoot in Av mode.
Shoot in RAW, convert to jpeg.

Guys...I feel a little bit disappointed with the colour of the photo taken using G9... For me, It seem like the quality and the colour still no much difference from my previous canon camera A540..
I not sure how many of you out there usually ps the photo after shooting. But i love natural colour+shaprness without go through any photoshop.
Recently i took quite numerous of photo with G9 and realize that the handling and the shutter speed+aperture is much more better than my previous Powershot A540. but the photo taken turn out to be the same with A540. "=.= Not sure is it my skill is not so good or canon camera is all the same when we talk about the colour+shaprness of the photo..
The reason why i say like this is because i had tried Panasonic Lumix camera. And the colour + shaprness of the photo is much more better. Even when i check back from the notebook, the photo quality still remain same as what i see from the camera's lcd screen.
Is there any senior canon user can explain to me why this thing happen? I still love the G9 but the quality of the photo really make me feel sick...Haiz..

Gosh is there no remote control accessory for this camera ? Also saw those cool hand grips and all can some one list out all the "Cool" must haves for this baby ?
BTW was quoted $795 with GST from AP, I got mine off the forums 2nd hand loving it less the noise compared to an SLR was contemplating to get a 350D + 50mm cheaper than G9 2nd hand but can't resist the convenience a ALL in 1 offers = )

Just got a G9 too. Good all-in-one camera except for the noise (as Brett mentioned). Colours are fine.

Your foreground is a tad under exposed for such a sunny beach shot.

i find your "original" output more pleasing, actually. but then, our tastes can be very different. from your photoshop version of the picture, i can see that you have bumped the contrast quite a bit. if this is your type of taste, then the solution is use "my colours" on the G9. in there, you can adjust the contrast, saturation, etc.. and then once you are done, save it. in future, all your shots can be set to default to your pre-set colours. i hope this helps.

There are a few colour modes for you to choose from. Maybe you could try the vivid mode if you like saturated colours.
