think stick to canon 430 EX..
tried Sunpak Pz42x.. couldnt sync with the camera.. had to exchange with the shop

Generally around $460. I usually go to jr.com cause I've been shopping in their store in NYC for years...

Was wondering what you guys use as a external flash for your G9,
Was thinking of getting a 420 or 430 Ex .
Any third party flash to intro??
I use the 430EX for the G9, and the result is great. Just dial down the ISO to 80, Manual with f5.6, 1/60, with the flash on hot shoe, bouce/diffuse the flash, you get a perfect compact camera that can shoot sharp images close to what DSLR can get indoor/low light.
Some people complain about the size of 430EX, but I find that I change my grip, left hand holding the 430EX, and right hand holding G9 and it's quite balanced.

try balancing it with 580exII ... bulky!... i'm still considering getting the 430 for the G9... mainly used by my wife, dont think she will bother to use bounce flash etc...

Is this shot taken underwater while diving? Any strobe used? I will be bring my G9 and the INON S2000 for my April diving at Dayang :lovegrin:
dont think strobe is used...see the top right hand corner that's over-exposed? that's the built-in flash...ahah
Yes, no strobes were used. No, wasn't built-in flash, just used a torch to shine at the side just to give it enough light for a shot. Taken during night dive.

With the wide-angle lens added, G9 is huge!
I just got the wideangle lens, it's huge. Size of DSLR already with the lens added. The image quality seems pretty good to me. Don't have any vignetting problem, and no noticable optical quality degradation...
One frustration that I have, DPP don't support G9 RAW, what is Canon thinking ! I don't mind if they don't bundle DPP with G9, but at least their DPP should be able to open their own camera's RAW file. Ridiculous.
