Yes, U can only get the camera w/o the housing at the price in SGP!
Get the Inon strobe, it's pretty user friendly to use on manual modes, I'm using the D2000.
Its a pity the Canon housing lens port is oval shape, cannot use external macro or WA lens. Old ones used to be round & lens could be mounted with an adapter.

Yup has been eye the D2000 for awhile liao...will get it for Japan mic21 dive shop when I am ready. So G9 housing can't take the INON WA or macro lens?

That was what I used to think but now, not anymore!

M67 Lens Adapter for Canon - HERE and HERE (Almost the same) Another one HERE.

I've read reviews and it's not too bad but for WA lens, I think there's a lot of vignetting. :)

Just came back from a Canon Basic Intro course that is from 1900 to 2100Hrs today at the Canon Digital Lab Centre, HarbourFront.

Saw quite a lot of G9 users. Wonder if there's any one there also in this forum?... ;)

how was the lesson ? they teaching basic stuff ?
was think of going too =)

Sigh 67mm, mine are 28AD.

Went over the features of the camera and a bit more in-depth explanation to your camera capabilities.

I alright with the basics, just need to know more about issues of what G9 is capable of and various questions like aperture & shutter speed settings, difference between AiAF, FlexiZone and Face Detect, how ISO affects images, etc, etc...

I've more or less know what it is about but just need someone professional and totally knowledgable about their own products to confirm my "half-baked" beliefs... ;p

Gaofar, i was at the same course too .. i was sitting at the back ... the one asking abt the AEB and raw qn ..

Haha! :D You must be the one that I am sitting next to! I'm the guy in white shirt and you are experimenting with macro shots of your Canon lens right?... ;)

Great to see you man! Cheers!

Gaofar,

the one whose G9 has a black alum grip (took a photo of your cam) .. where you get that from anyway ?

most parts of the lesson, i already learnt thru reading the manual and fidgeting with the cam.. thats why i was trying to see if i could get the g9 to do backgrd blur (bokeh?) since the largest aperture is 2.8.. used AF most of the time.. forgot to try MF..

Gary, if promo is still on, most places would be $899, but think some guys got it lower?

--

personally, i find the G9 to be quite good.. has functions for the user to set, however limited it is....

but then, photos are ultimately dependant on the photographer..

TK Foto is selling like $800 International warranty set, there are also grey set selling like $750 now

Hi bro CanonG9,

Actually had a combined order with bro Rico to get the add-on accessories from this guy below. The add-ons are great! Really enhance and had a much better grip than before, not to mention better looking as well! ;)

Hi,

Can anyone share any G9 photos in dimlight or under no light.. How is the image like? Is a external flash complusory or the noise bearable??

Thanks!!!
;p

Oh... Forgot to add...

Having a flash is definitely a plus-point as it'll provide better ambiance and a stronger flash.

My above shots are done without tripod and on ISO 80 for the fireworks and ISO 200 for the cathedral.

Regards. ;)

tripod is preferable... i think i will get the flash much later as i am trying not to use flash in the first place.. however, if flash is really required.. try getting one that allows you to bounce , rather than fixed. by the way.. tried sunpak pz42x, it cannot sync with G9 ...

just got my self a tripod.. now to find a nice time to go out for night shots
