IMHO, apart from the feel good factor of not having a defective LCD, as ong as it dun affect the picture I dun see it as a problem. Then again, its my own opinion.

Totally agree with it. My G9 also got LCD light leak issue. However it is not so bad as the light leak will not affect the picture at all. In fact, it does not even affect the viewing of the picture during shooting. so.. not such of a problem to me too.

Anyone knows besides the freebies, is the 3rd party battery worth it? How much did you guys pay for it?

Wow guys... loving this camera. Here a photo taken @ ISO 1600 indoor & handhold. I have resized it to 20%.



With rgds to the light leak issue, I had email to Canon, they called me & told me that it don't affect the photos taken. They said, I could bring it to svc to have it resolve, if I want to. Will think about it, cos there's only small light leak which could not be seen in broad daylight. Hope this clear some doubts.:gbounce::gbounce:

Just gotten a confirmation from the shop, that they have just sent the screen protector today. Most probably we will get it this week.

They are not available here. Got my DC55A through Ebay. Rather expensive though.

Wow.. that is so "retro" reminds me of my dad's full manual Minolta from some 30+years ago ! Its case cover had almost the exact same design, but black leather. :sweatsm:

hello all, I just got my canon G9 after saving up for a really long time; this'll probably be my first step towards owning a DSLR but in the meantime it's time to sharpen my skills.

I've read somewhere in this thread that there is some kind of G9 workshop by canon? are there any places to go for lessons to learn the basics of photography on the whole?

Hi all,
I'd like to ask something. Over the weekend, I've managed to make use of my G9. I shoot RAW with the WB set to Auto. Just now, when I was viewing the pictures, some of them appear to be a bit blurry. But when I change the WB to suit the actual shooting condition, the picture became sharper. Any idea why is this happening?

Hi all.

I've been using compact digital camera for sometime now, from my first Sony digital camera DSC-P1 to few assortment of other cameras like Olympus and Panasonic. My previous Canon is the IXUS 400.

I've just bought the Canon G9 from Mustafa Centre and I simply love the design and style it exudes. Sigh... If only I knew about this forum earlier then I'll probably save a bit more when compare to Mustafa... Still, it's the ownership of the camera that makes me real happy!
