Now Ombre has clearly stated that he wishes to be the organiser for the outing. :)

im in for the outing but will onli get to confirm it nearer the date.
Sunday mornings sounds fine for me.

for the next few weekends i have work... haiz... i think i found a bad job that is usually busy on a weekend... anyway, go ahead with the plan... will try to get there if i have the time

Bugis, Chinatown, how far apart are they? Are there any events, sporting or otherwise? Isn't there a River Festival starting on 19 June?

I just came back from fireworks shooting tonight. Very beautiful, the best fireworks i ever seen in my entire life. :)

Chinatown? there is this recent hoo-ha on CS about no-photography rules in Chinatown.

Getting better at the fireworks, those are some great stuff.

Did you use a TC for the moon picture? Looks pretty sharp.

Yes I agree about the no-photography in chinatown is weird. But if you can find the post on CS, you'll see that there is this guy writing to the tourism board about why is photography not allowed in chinatown. And the shopkeepers even tried to fine $5 for photo-taking... I can't find the thread at the moment.

fine $5... lol... i think its the shopkeeper impose the fine themselve... sg fine minimum $20.. tat is for jaywalking...

anyway yup, the moon was taken with the help of tcon... its actually not tat sharp, there is this fine green circumference, when i put the blue overlay it seem good

firework, still practising, still get overexpose easily

Wah why you didnt go inside? Inside you will get an experience you will never get for the rest of your life. Thats what i felt yesterday. Made NDP feel like sh*t. :S

Haha yup, the guys in chinatown makes the fine themselves, so the question is, what gives them the authority to issue fines?!

In anycase guys, I don't think I'll be meeting you guys for this outing, I'm having chickenpox, feels murderous. Yea. Pity. You guys have fun ya.

Wah, so old den kena?

going in? that wat i want to avoid... it crowded and hot... and all the firework reminisce will float either to ur body (human) or lens... plus i'm setting up tripod, definitely kana people leg...

was just trying out my tcon on some bird today... find that there is quite a limitation... quality lost, plus when u move too close to the subject, u won't be able to auto focus properly, which u will have to switch to manual focus which take quite some time and some quality also... -_-
so anybody that uses tcon should get ready to use MF (manual focus).

Eh Skyguy, I think your TCON might have problem. First you mentioned that you experienced CA (green around moon) with your TCON, are you using the Oly TCON-17? I never had CA with my moon shots, in fact most of my TCON shots, the only thing is contrast loss, and abit of sharpness drop. AF was as per normal too... And TCONs should not reduce your minimum focusing distance by right... So I didn't really experience those problems you mentioned.

You give me the impression that your Tcon is abit mis-aligned. You can check this by seeing if one side of the picture is sharper than the other side, but its abit harder to test with a compact since you have a lot of DOF. By the way, are you also at your full zoom? Or did you get blocked like you mentioned previously?

nope its not tcon 17... c210, and yes full zoom... i think the green line is due to the lens telelens itself, i guess need to clean my lens abit, oh yea, the green line only occur at the brightest part of the moon, the top part i think... actually AF is as normal, just tat it auto focus on the wrong things... example the background instead of the bird... will put up some bird shot later

I think CA is a very common thing for a prosumer.

i guess from the above pic u won't see the error, u will need to enlarge it... go to the link below and click to enlarge.

just check with ombre... CA stand for chromatic aberration...It occurs because lenses have a different refractive index for different wavelengths of light (the dispersion of the lens). The refractive index decreases with increasing wavelength... which is highly occur-able for my case, as i have total 3 lens... tele, uv and cam lens... sometime even without the tele i can see the CA... -_-

As I said, CA is fairly common for prosumer, with or without tkon. Its nothing to worry about. Even DSLRs with decent lens will have CA too.

here is some pic to share for wat i shot...
