my friend and me bought 1 each from CP at $636 with GST.
Thanks for the flickr photos; although a newbie, I must say the photos are sharp, with good colors on the bougainvillea, and take...even being able to take a bird sitting on a twig on the way to work...that's fast. There are other photos where the image could be more saturated or more sharper. Overall, thanks.
Hi, is that $636 with GST, or is $636+GST? I got quote of $650 from another shop, with 2 GB ordinary SD.
By the way, has anyone bought a converter lens? There is the vitacon (2.5x) but requires the purchase of additional adapter.
I also tried to find the multicoated lens and gradient lens, but these are smaller...could not find them. Where can I get them to protect the lens?

Package may consist of 2GB mem card and some shops throw in a casing. Both of them i am not using. Bought a bigger bag to house spare batt, filters etc. Also bought a 4 and 8GB SDHC for oversea work use.
May try to exclude them in your purchase if you find both the bag and mem card capacity is too small but don't think you can save much.
FZ-18 users: How long does it take to focus at full zoom?
Depends... Certainly more then 1 sec even 2 under normal to slightly dim light condition. More if it's dark or focusing on subject with low contrast.

Cnot really recall the exact price mus go home n dig for the invoice. :bsmilie: Think a 8GB Transcend class 6 SDHC cost abt $150-$160 and the 4GB ard half the price.
I needed the larger capacity becoz of video clip shooting when i travel oversea for work. Can houe abt 1.8K JPG image but significantly lesser if i start taking video clip. Many ppl doesn't like the idea of having 1 large capacity card coz it like putting all ur eggs in 1 basket. Once spoil all gone. :bsmilie:
I got the Lowero Pro Rezo 120 AW. $30 from CP. It can house the FZ18 (top Load), 2 spare batt, 3 filter, lens pen, Len Hood and adapatar, mem card, cleaning cloth. Small enuff to put it into my Deuter backpack and not bulky when i sling it by itself.
Hmm....thats quite a bit to spend on memory.Then again, I recall many moons ago the same thoughts when I was recommended to buy a 2GB Hard Disc for my Desktop computer.

Any idea how much it is selling for ? FZ18?
I heard that the noise problem is quite bad but I'm still bent on getting this cam...

Right now it's selling in the region of $650 (MS Colours). I know it's not the lowest in the market (Paris Silk going for $643) but at least I find the shop worth a visit.
Noise problem will definitely be there especially if you venture above ISO 200. But you get what you decide and paid for (it's a prosumer with 1/2.5" sensor so you can't expect the sky, but you get a 28-504mm range under $700).
