Hi,

Any idea how much the ball park price of the FZ-18 would be?

Can somebody explain how the 46mm MC filter is placed onto the lens?

I saw the pictures of the camera and there is no screw thread on the lens barrel.

I figure that there is a small circular part that you can unscrew from the front of the lens after which you screw on the Lumix 46mm filter permanently to protect the lens.

WITHOUT having to use any "adapter tube" that screws onto the camera body.

NONE of the so called reviews explained this.

lens cap? :bsmilie:

you WILL HAVE TO use an adapter tube which is included together with the camera, and I believe it is normally 55 or 58mm.

I dono for fz18 of cos, but as far as the previous fz goes, fz5, 7 and 8, all of them have a lens adapter for you to screw on your filter...

for fz18 i actually doubt they have such adapter after looking at how long the lens barrel actually extend.
seems like the lens hood doesn't help as well if the lens barrel cna extend so far out (when zoomed out). :bsmilie:

This is how it is done.
Japanese website. Excuse the screwed up Japanese English.
Silly US reviewers all missed explaining this.

The ISO1600 shot looks decent... sure a not? Suddenly improves so much? Then wouldn't this be the perfect prosumer?

hi.. if i may..

i have the FZ8.. and the adapter that comes with it is actually the HOOD adapter.. whereby the hood is secured to the adapter by a small screw device.. there is no screw thread on the adapter.

the lens adapter is the DMW-LA2 if im not wrong and its an optional equipment.

here's a pic for better understanding.

sheesh.. im the one that could be wrong.. :embrass: didnt notice the inner thread..

if filters and lens could screw in there, i wonder why they have the lens adapter for sale as optional accessories..

thanks for pointing it out.. :)
