FurryPhotos - Pet Portraiture/Pictures

Raptor, can I 'tumpang' your thread? I'll delete it if u mind...

LEO, the only cat that exist in our campus

I like the second shot best. Try not to cut of the edges like that though and watch the white point of the fur. It gets blown out easily. For the second one if you cut it off such that you get a 1/2 face portrait I think it might work better.

Very very nice pictures raptor84.

I always look forward to your threads cos you shoot quite a bit of the shelter dogs and just somehow make them all look so glamourous. Wondering if you could share more outdoor/candid shots?

I'm still stuck with the S80 and shooting my dogs in my garden ;p ... but progressing to shooting at the dogruns so hope to get some pointers.

Not much time to shoot shelter dogs now because of all the projects and the fact that the shelter is under quarantine to contain the spread of a viral infection. Dog runs are great places to practice I went to the pet movers one recently to shoot too :D ->http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=258096

As for your pics,
#1 the eye is kinda low in the frame and the head makes for too much of a solid empty space.
#2 has a nice profile but not enough space on that side of the frame making it look cramped

#3 is almost there :) Dogs face is a little underexposed though. nice perspective and use of macro focus.

#4 is my fav from this set. It tells a story and captures a nice quiet moment hehe.

raptor! I love this shot! very pretty kitty there!

Its my gf's cat :D Thanks again all.

Thanks for the comments dude. Really helpful... I guess it's all about a picture being affecting rather than sorely being aesthetic (although i totally dig the glamour shots  ).

It's just sometimes a little tough to capture moments with the slow shutter speed of my cam. Always end up with blurred motion. You had some nice shots of dogs in action!

Thanks for the encouragement. A few new pics taken 2 days ago. This kitten is looking for a home. She is boarding at Mutts and Mittens. Not very sociable and slightly afraid of strangers though.

The compulsory portrait shot. The bars are a less than ideal background but did not want to take the kitten out as there were dogs around =p. 70-200 f/4 @4.5

Always alert for threats, she was a little skittish. I like how she seems so focused and intense here. The slightly extended claws are extra :D 17-40 @4.5

the kitten is a "he"=P

anyway of course my cat is pretty!=D

if its a "he", do take note not to feed the supermarket brand food to him. Better dont feed supermarket brand food. =)

I know, coz my cat is now on prescription diet for urinary tract blockage due to our ignorance as hes our first cat. nowadays, i feed street cats with better then supermarket brand also in case they suffer later on....haiz.

Anywayz, he is cute indeed!

Dont worry that kitten getting quite good food now =p

A re-take of that kitten in the reception area. here he is looking up at my GF

Taken with 70-200 f/4 @4.5 90mm

2 more kittens in need of homes. Sex unknowns as yet (too young to tell visually). First on had some mucus build up in the eyes and was cleaned out explaining the wet fur.

The other kitten is literally a handful. She was kinda scratchy and grouchy. Probably because we disturbed her nice nap. And yes that's my GF holding the kitten.

Both pics taken with 17-40 @ 28 and 32mm respectively at f/5.6

Thanks for viewing :)

hehe glad you like it :D

one of those doggies roaming around SBG...

Pretty nicely taken westie :) ISO 800 is a little excessive for natural ligt right?

:bsmilie: this is because i just went inside the forest area and forgot to change back... :bsmilie:

Mutts and mittens should be open again to the public this coming monday. Went in today to take a few snaps. Still cant take the dogs out to the run due to quarantine measures..

You might remember this little kitten from an earlier shoot..

Same kitten i took a little earlier. Here it is now at 4 weeks old. Getting more daring everyday. Finally decided to settle down for a proper pic :D

"Under-Aged Model"

Went back to the SPCA again today to walk dogs but ended up taking more pics instead :D I think its way easier to use a compact in there given the cramped conditions. All pics taken with a 17-40

Suichi - Very cute mongrel puppy. A little on the quiet side but loves food. Taken using a 430ex and abetterbouncecard.

Boy - Looking all smug and relaxed. Natural light with flash fill.

Handsome - Brother of Boy(above) and looking a little tired of me bothering him with the camera.Taken using a 430ex and abetterbouncecard.
