Fujifilm X100S

I got mine from Click! Cameras. Good customer service there too.

Yup.. But look out for Wanling.

Not only does she provide great service, her knowledge on photography is greater than most of the other salespeople i've spoken with.

What is the latest?
Is it a good camera for family Holiday? Thanks..

this is a fixed focal lens with 35mm FOV

it is a compact size (tho can't fit into a pocket)

if u are looking for a family holiday kind of camera, i would suggest u take a look at x20 if u still like to own a Fuji camera

A lot depends on who handles the camera. I found that because sometimes I pass camera to others to shoot us, having something idiot proof is needed. But I also want very good quality images. So my holiday camera combo is a Fuji x100s and a Sony RX100.

To pass a Fuji x series camera to others might be a potential for missed/out of focused shots..

When I pass my x100 and xe1 to the guide at Universal studios at RWS the shots turned out to be out of focused..

Thanks for the advice. I happens to have my old Lumix LX5 that should work. May be that it good enough.

Thanks for comment. Isn't it true that x100s has some programmed functions that can work as "point and shoot" camera.

If you turn the dials for both aperture and shutter speed to "A", then it will function like a point and shoot.

No entirely true with X10/20 - with face detect, 'almost' foolproof ;-)

"face-detect" or "phase detection"

For x100s, you can see "face detect" at bottom left (for portraits) when you do a playback to review your photos. However, when you are taking a portrait, I don't think there is face detection available. Please correct me if I am wrong.

X100s has hybrid AF of contrast detection and phase detection..

Whether it has a face detection capability I dunno..

I only know my XE1 has no face detection..
Cause I pass the camera to others to take pics then many pics turned out to be blur..
Cause they never put the subjects in the center focus box..

Face detection isn't fool-proof. Anything that looks like a face can be focused upon too.

I did try my hands on the phase-detect hybrid AF of the XE1.. Fast, but not that accurate

X-E1 have phase-detect hybrid AF??

It's only contrast-detect..

X10/X20 has face detect.

X100/X100s no face detect.

X100s has phase detect.

Hi ,
Back to the original qn , the x20 has a mode called advanced SR , which is simply its auto mode.

Quite idiot proof and e mode I always engage when passing to others for help. And yup, there's face detection.

Not sure abt x100s as too poor to afford it :( but I'd think the classic 35mm FOV is gonna frustrate those used to having the convenience of zooms , making it lesser suited for family travel trips.
