Picture taken using tripod? No?

Try to use Shutter Priority or Manual (play around with the ISO settings between 200 to 400) and set the shutter speed to 2" or more. Adjust your white balance as well. Set Photometry to Average.

Your white balance is off, ISO too high. ISO at 64, slowest speed (which is 4 sec), tripod or flat solid surface for long exposure shots. Use manual settings and timer. Use slow syn flash to get different effects too.;)

ISO is too high, this causes your pictures to be too noisy. Hmmm. very instructive though. Fuji's ISO800 is usually still alright but your first pic looks pretty noisy at that ISO. The second one is worst at ISO1600. Chromatic aberrations can be seen. Set the ISO lower and use a tripod. You can't get away from using a tripod for night shots. With lower ISO, you'll get the creamy smooth texture of Yoh's picture. Most importantly, keep shooting. ;)

I guess Slow Syn Flash is only applicable to certain locations, not anywhere near the road. ;)

ok i try to work on the noise by using ISO 200 while reading the owner's manual.
but i guesss using a white balance of -3 is just not so right. (see below)

White balance -3? Or are you refering to Exposure Value?

The white balance presets are Fine, Shade, Fluorescent light (Daylight), Fluorescent light (Warm White), Fluorescent light (Cool White), Incandescent light) and Custom.

Well TS mention general night shots and I didn't say using near the road.;)

Oaktree, you need to resize your pics. Too small, like thumbnails. Makes no. 4 look very eerie, coz i see a lonely old lady sitting on a chair looking at an empty Chinese Opera stage. :o

what i meant was the Fluorescent light (Cool White). never dealt with this before so i was trying around still need to try out MORE.

besides that i do think the picture should be quite okay.. probably a little far to show a macro shot. (maybe maybe)
