ahhh. thats why its cheap.. was wondering why its so cheap here compared to the prices in us..

Thks ken, will check it out :)
btw, is your cam make in china or japan?
Cos i heard that mostly the first few batches are make in japan,
Later batches are make in china & thus more cheaper :P (like the one brought by jdee posted above)

China one

Just to check with S100FS user using S7raw to convert their RAF files.
I tried, but get a not compatable files typ reply.
Read from the web that it should support S100FS.
Any?
cheers

Ha, answered my own question...
reloaded the latest version, now working.

Within 90 Days
(re: time window when extended warranty can be purchased)

An S100FS is on a UPS truck headed this way as I type.

I'll relate my MTBF experience with recent Fuji ZLR's and let you decide if the warranty is worth it:

S602 used for 8 months/approx 6,000 exposures before it developed dust spots on lens/ccd unit that have since settled out and no longer cause problem when camera is used for grab shots when not carrying a current work camera. This model was mothballed for the higher pixel count models below.

1st S20 used for 15 months/approx 15,000 exposures before the CCD died.

2nd S20 used for 13 months/approx 15,000 exposures before the CCD died the same horrible death as the 1st S20.

1st S9100 was returned within 90-days for failure to hold focus or apertures that were set manually while using studio flash.

Replacement S9100 still in service as a back-up (to my 2nd S20 before it died and my Oly E-330) for 15 months but only about 5,000 exposures. It's a backup because it's auto-focus is unreliable in any light and also painfully slow in low light (from what I gather, this is an S9100 hallmark and unfixable). The damned built-in focus assist light suffers parallax error because of it's placement and the camera tries unsuccessfully to focus on an off-center assist light....The S20 was much better in low light even without an assist light due to both an active and passive AF system on this earlier model.

I'm hoping Fuji finally has a near perfect package in the S100.

If the S100FS is worth keeping, I'll be springing for the extended warranty. Your mileage may vary.

Any one bought S100fs from Bargain City? just need to know if there is anything i should be aware off before i order from them...

Why Bargain city? Why not the usual places that offer better prices?
:)

Don't want to spoil this thread. Just want to check with you, if someone is considering trade his S100FS for a DSLR, pls kindly drop me a message.

I have a Pentax K100D+DA18-55+Da21+DA70.......

any idea how much it cost now?

just bought mine for $855 with 2gb card at John 3:16.

I just got mine from M S Color for S$860. It comes with 2GB SD card and a case but I changed the 2GB card to a UV filter. I also bought a 2nd battery but it's not the original battery, it's a compatible 3rd party battery with higher capacity, 2280mAH. The battery cost me S$40. The people from M S Color told me that there are no original better available now yet.

What do you guys think? The original battery really not out yet? Is it ok to use a compatible 3rd party battery?

I've 2 pc of the 3rd party batteries, so far ok.

Are they really 2280mAH, I don't know, I need extra battery for my trip, no choice.

Anyway, Fuji have yet to bring in any asscessories for the s100fs.
I would like the remote trigger for a start.

does the compatable batts have approximately the same life span as the original ones?

thanks for all the prices guys. i'm really interested in this camera. been wanting to get one to replace my old one. had set my mind for S5 IS when i read about this cam. hope it live up to my expectations.

My mistake. It's actually 2800mAh. The original FJ-NP140 is only rated at 1150mAh. I took about 230 shots with 10% flash usage and the 3rd party battery dropped 1 segment. Good or not huh?

 i think it is better to judge its performance by using it until flat. Sometimes third party batteries do not follow the battery meter on the device (based on experiences with 3rd party hp batteries). It will be great if u can share ur experience. ;)

Managed to source an original NP-140 from Fujifilm Singapore.

Was told shipment had only came in last week, thus those looking for the NP-140 can try contacting the Fujifilm service centre directly. ;)
