right on dog...:) i went to 4" that means 4secs right? anyway was reading on shutter speed and aperture when i saw this pic taken at a highway.. i saw like wow! so tot of trying... some abit nice... some not so good... hmmm... wondering where the rest is... wad happened to wenesday?

yeah our camera model is only 4" max, unlike DSLR cameras which can go from 30 sec to beyond. some cameras can even go for hours. but it's a nice try.

hey bro,

not really leh.. cos i still managed to get some decent night shots with my 8100FD.. it depends on your settings.. and as usual, all the advice will definitely have this point.. "Use a tripod"...

like what bro parampita said, show us some pics for further assessment bah.. dont worry, here the ppl are nice one.. cos there were times where i posted "crap" pics in here.. always take the critics with a pinch of salt in order to learn..

please... bring on the critics... help me become a better photographer!
thanks guys :)

is it possible that just nice during night shots.. at the f1 and concert i wasn't using a tripod... tts y my pics like tt? grainy and stuff? ok and the high iso setting ? ok there is one shot during the f1 which was real bad but i do not have the person's approval to place his pic in here.
basically the pic is grainy and dark...his face..backgrd..only the road is bright coz of the lights..
but recently i posted a few pic at P.S... also at night leh but not tt bad... its it due to the lighting and conditions of the area ?

hi ldawn88,

care to share your settings for your night shot?

in my opinion, most of the time is due to lack of tripod as our hands tend to shake... did you push the iso up to the max for the concert shoot? it appears quite grainy... but then for the 3rd pict, i think it still looks a bit better than the rest.. perhaps at that time the angle of the light shining on her was just right..

thats the prob bro... i couldnt use a tripod coz the last time round i tried to bring but the guys at the indoor stadium asked me to check it in?? so this time rd no tripods.. plus last time i bring the tripod is for p&s cam only kns man those ppl... anyhow... the iso for the pics were 1600 max. but mostly 800. i had no choice coz some parts were just too dark.. i really hope its the staging/lighting prob and not me or cam lol ... same for F1... i think i shld really do more night shots to improve man.... calling parampita!!! lol ;p

It happens, ultra zooms like ours have very tiny sensors, thus they're not really the best option for night shooting. You should experience pretty tragic noise past ISO400. Its nothing wrong with your skill, even if you brought a tripod, it won't help anything because you're shooting a concert, not a landscape which isn't going to move for the next 200 hours. At those lighting condition you're probably only shooting at 1/4 shutter speed, you can't catch them unless you're lucky that they stood absolutely still for a split second.

Because of that I'm considering to get a dSLR already.. =( anyone wanna buy my cam? check my classifieds. =)

But frankly speaking, your pics are on the good side, probably as good as a prosumer gets. My nightshots of moving targets seem to be worse.

Bro Jaybaokong, I have inserted the settings for my night shots :).
