finally managed to upload some 12 megapixel full sized resolution pictures. these were shot RAW, and then developed into JPEG in camera. As I use a mac, no software available yet to bake the RAW file into a jpeg.

Settings used was sRGB, "Standard" for Sharpening, Shadow Tone, Highlight Tone, "Low" for Noise Reduction, Dynamic range at 100% and the film simulation used was Velvia. For color I picked "High" because I prefer saturated colors.

Hey, anyone keen to teach how to shoot the video ? I can not find the dedicated record button .

Click on the Drive button, scroll down to movie, press the shuttle button to start record. It looks like it will autofocus by itself while recording.

Slacker123: Good round up. Same experience.

I see you switched on Velvia film simulation?

Does anyone know how does this ISO 12800 comes about? It seem to be grey off for HI and LO.

indeed, just testing out what it looked like today. especially so since the skies were a beautiful shade of blue today.

i do miss the look of kodachrome greatly though, and hope that someday someone will be able to come forth with a perfect digital simulation of that legendary film.

too bad i sold my X1 last year in anticipation for this X100 so far not disappointed at all. Awesome buy and should be keeping it for a while. X1 was nice but my shooting requires fast focusing and the X1 was horrendously slow. Love the pano stitch feature... Hope you guys who bought it loved it too ... Was there on the 1st day never even bother to test it typical kiasu and grab and go...

What time were you there on 1st day? I saw a few people grab and go. heehee

I read from dpreview that since the adapter is not in yet, can buy 2 49mm to 52mm step up ring, do some modification and stick both 52 ends together. You will get the 49mm adapter you need.

u must buy an adapter separately ..... the adapter is sold as one .....alternatively you can buy the hood which comes together with the adapter as a set ....but i think the accessories are not in yet ....anyone knows where i can get the original casing LC-X100 ???

Anyone know how x100 can connect with a CPL?
Thanks

why don't just get the 49 to 52mm and then stick with the 52mm instead?

The box came with it. The Harvey Norman deal at the IT Show 2011 included a brown "Premium Case" for the X100, which we are supposed to collect end of March as the stock has not arrived.

I was looking high and low for a nice wrist strap for my X100. Found a nice black leather wrist strap from Chiif Cameras (Excelsior Shopping Centre #02-15). The workmanship is good and the price is reasonable at $25.

Chiif is clearing stock and he has limited sets left.

(Apology for the poor pic quality as they were taken from my iPhone 3GS)

It is really sad to read about the earthquake and tsunami news in Northern Japan. Read in X100 Forum that Fujifilm's Taiwa-cho factory has been affected (luckily no reported injury), causing a temporary halt in production for the X100. Let's pray for the folks in Japan and hope that those who were injured will recover well.

"PRESS RELEASE: Press statement following recent earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan

14 March 2011 -- Following the recent earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan Fujifilm can confirm that its Taiwa-Cho factory, 20 miles from Sendai city, has been affected.

Fortunately, none of the workers at the Taiwa-Cho factory are reported injured but inevitably some damage has occurred to the factory building, causing a temporary halt in production for the FinePix X100. To this end, Fujifilm is expecting a delay to market for the X100.

Fujifilm is currently considering all possible options to minimise the delay and the disappointment for the many consumers who have given the X100 such an incredible reception.

The rest of Fujifilm's range has been unaffected, due to manufacturing being based outside the region.

I'm sure you will also want to join us in extending our thoughts and condolences to everyone affected by these terrible events in Japan."

Hands on review of the X100 from DigitalRev TV :)

Nice review...wanted to share it too but you posted it first haha. It just proved that this is a "SILENT KiILLER for STREET CANDID". Kai managed to take sneak shots when he's so close to the stranger.

I have never found Kai's reviews to be any bit helpful in deciding whether to buy gear or not.
But his reviews are always hilarious and entertaining.

Is there anywhere i can get this camera tomorrow?
