Fuji X100

Didn't really have time to take any pics as I was busy at work the whole day. Still trying to familiarize myself with the X100.

I was having dinner at Fukuichi Japanese Dining at TripleOne Somerset just now and sat at the outdoor area where it was very dim. I thought it would be a good opportunity to test the low light performance of the X100.

The shots below were taken at high ISO 6400 and F2 at low shutter speed of 1/14 to 1/30s (shot in JPEG, no PP except some slight adjustment in levels):

X1001.jpg

ISO 6400, F2, 1/30s

X1002.jpg

ISO 6400, F2, 1/26s

X1003.jpg

ISO 6400, F2, 1/14s

X1004.jpg

ISO 6400, F2, 1/20s

I dunnoe if its just me but theres this slight glow aka 'dreamy' look to the pictures at f2, akin to those classical rendering of older lens like the leica pre asph and LTM lenses, looks good!

Does anyone know where to get the adapter ring AR-X100 in singapore?

hi guys, any of you gotten the premium case on the spot when you bought your x100 at the IT show?
I left my name and hp no. with them and they said will call me end of the month when the case arrived. But i was not given any redemption voucher etc.

Want to check if you guys have similar arrangement?

Was at e IT show tis morning to place my preorder for e X100! Wow.. Response damn good! Many like me rushing to log in their orders too. Probably becos they know tat with e japan quake; stks will even b harder to come by. Sales guy told me I was the 206th prebook customer. Hope e stks will b in time. Priority will b given to IT Shw pre-book orders than from e outside retails. Whoohoo!!! I tell u, go grab it before they tell u hv to wait longer than a month or more.

Wasn't able to get the case as well. But got a free extra 16gb Sd card for preorder

Kinda means that it's not full auto in the traditional/common sense. I'm kinda bummed out, but I guess it's not realistic for them to include Auto ISO where the user can define the max ISO and min shutter speed (like how it is in some Nikons).

But that also means that users will have to take the time to compose and set up the correct exposure. That kinda makes it RF-like, but it does mean that I can probably pull the shot off more quickly with my D700... at the start....

Agreed. but as compared to the normal CC and even the prosumers, the x100 is definitely be faster so to whip out the D700 sans the size, then of course it is unfair in terms of focusing mechanism, processor speed and perhaps even VR/IS.

Speed is pretty subjective but some really do like the time to compose and set the camera...that makes it an art sometimes.

The above is the macro shot with the sun approx around 2 oclock position. Yes it is hot!

The dreamy look of the macro of indoor shots has gone and in return was a very sharp and detailed picture though it took me sometime to get used to focusing as well.

Next is the usage of the ND filter with F2 and Aperture set on auto. ISO 200 with normal Dynamic Range settings (if not wrong should be 100)

No flash portraiture at Film Simulation soft AWB F2. By this time I got used to the focusing system of the camera. Metering was average as I find the multi keep reading the surround bright lights a bit too harshly and underexposed. Still it is a case by case issue.

I pre-ordered x100 and got it @ IT show :) It should be a great assistant to take pictures in the comming newzealand trip!

Any one can comment on how responsive is it in terms of shutter press to release
compared to micro 4/3 ? e.g. EP2 / EPL2
Thanks

BTW, i just called up Harvey Norman and they have confirmed that the Fujifilm S4000 and X100 cameras available for sale at this year's IT Show 2011 are pre-launch units specially shipped out for sale before their official retail launch.

And now that the X100 already out of stock, those who want the S4000 have only until tomorrow to get their hands on one, because phone calls made to Harvey Norman, Cathay Photo, Alan Photo and MS Color all revealed the same info: no one knows when the S3300, S4000 or HS20EXR will be officially launched in Singapore, although it seems that we are looking at a late March/early April date.

I played with the display set at the IT show today.
The size and weight (not too heavy) is great. At ISO 3200, the photos are still very usable.
However, i find the buttons on the camera very small.

I also talked to the sales man, and he says that the case that they are giving for this promotion is not the eventual 'premium' leather case. The leather case which would be sold will be sold at 169 "real leather", whilst the one they are giving is more like a mock-leather quality to resemble leather case.

I that case, I was 'duped'...but still a mock leather case that protects is better than no case at all, free case as well so can't be chooser.

On other matters, this bag from Olympus won't look out of place with the x100 as well :)

this is too much poison

Many people buy is good. When the X200 comes out, there will be good bargains and i can try and do some harvesting but then again, maybe the X200 would be so much better I will hold off again . Afterall, there is rumour that the X200 may have interchangeable lens.;)
