It looks like a really vintage film camera like leica M3, a 1970 classic professional. It is a poor's man leica, and buying it, can still take a vacation some more to test it out.
It is tentatively slated to go to the market in early March 2011
The advantages of having a fixed lens are: better aligment, sealed dustless operation,
sensor-lens optimasation like the Ricoh, unconstrained by generic flange distance, cost saving, size & performance.
Buying a camera with fixed lens brings on the risk of how much it is to be likened which is not certain until we get used to it.

thanks for the link to the samples...i had a close look at them. Seems that sharpness overall not a problem for this lens, even at f2. Looks really sharp from 2.8 onwards.
Lens distortion also seems very controlled, i dont notice bent straight lines near edges
The colour rendition part is subjective but does anyone think that it could be better? It doesnt seem to render colours the way I would like though to be fair, i don't know what kind of conditions the photos were shot in.
But then again, still quite impressive output for straight out of cam jpeg (i'm assuming no PP)

Definitely not since the D200's sensor is CCD.
I am sure you meant the D300 which is 12meg and base ISO200.
I still did not understand why fuji chose that sensor which is ages old.... The X100 is not cheap so cost cutting should not be the reason right?
lets hope it is not the D300 sensor and some new and better sensor.
