Correction...City Square Mall...not hall. But you have a point

From Little India , can pass through Little India and one of Singapore's oldest mosque, then Guan Yin Temple, then Arab street, then Hainam street (which is inside bugis junction now), raffles hotel and then Raffles city for dinner. I think much better.

We can round it off with a night shoot of MBS (again?!!?!)

Update 1.10

1. The following functions can be rocked during shooting by holding down [MENU / OK] button over 3 sec.
DRIVE / Flash / White balance / Macro (set on the Command Dial - 4 direction key)

2. "CORRECTED AF FRAME" menu is added in "SET-UP" menu (the last line on menu page 6) to display additional AF frame (corrected AF frame for reducing parallax) which can be effectively used for macro shots. (Factory default value is set to "OFF")

3. Adjustment in1/3 step increment for shutter speed or aperture setting is enabled in Shutter-Priority AE and Aperture-Priority AE mode, on top of those in Manual Exposure mode.
Shutter-Priority AE : Adjustment is controlled by rotating the command dial
Aperture-Priority AE : Adjustment is controlled by moving left / right on the command control lever

4. In the post-view mode (display after shooting), focused area is magnified in the LCD (EVF) display when the command control lever is pressed.
Cf. "IMAGE DISP." Setting must be set to "CONTINUOUS",

5. Setting of the role for "Fn" button is enabled by holding down "Fn" button over 3 sec.

6. Actual ISO sensitivity for shooting is displayed just after pressing shutter button halfway, when "ISO AUTO CONTROLL" is set to ON.

7. When "eye sensor" is activated by pressing "VIEW MODE" button, "EYE SENSOR" is displayed on EVF / OVF or LCD just a while to notice the status.

8. Macro mode ISO sensitivity, Drive mode, Dynamic range, Self-timer mode, flash mode is maintained even if shutter speed setting or aperture setting is changed. Also, even after changing viewing mode into shooting mode or turning of the camera, these values are maintained.

9. The size of focus frame set through viewing EVF / LCD is maintained even after changing display mode between OVF and EVF (LCD).

10. When "SHUTTER SOUND" is chosen, each shutter sound is performed in each menu setting.

11. In viewing mode, the last viewed shot is maintained as even after changing into shooting mode.
Cf. After another image is shot after viewing former image, memory of viewing the image is cancelled and the last shot is displayed as the latest image.

12. When the aspect ration of the image size is set to 16:9, the line of bright frame line on OVF is displayed with aspect ratio 16:9.

13. Viewing mode with Photo Information on EVF / LCD is maintained even if another image is shot. On top of this issue, deleting picture directly is enabled even in viewing with Photo information by pressing the command dial up, or MENU operation is also enabled.

14. Occasionally, preview image on EVF / LCD after pressing the shutter halfway might be darker than live view, according to aperture setting or brightness of shooting target. This phenomenon is improved.

15. When "DISP. CUSTOM SETTING" is set to OVF or EVF / LCD, the setting value is maintained even after customizing the menu.

16. Even for only RAW data recording mode, "RED EYE REMOVAL" setting is selectable among ON or OFF.

17. In MF (manual focus) setting with OVF mode, OVF viewing is activated after pressing shutter half way, even if "FOCUS CHECK" (magnifying center of the image) is displayed in EVF by pressing the center of the command control lever.

18. Displaying period after pressing each command dial (Macro / Flash) is prolonged from 1.5 sec into 2.0 sec for confirming correctly.

20. For resuming from AUTO POWER OFF setting, the shutter release button was required to hold down halfway for a few second. For quicker operation, resuming is activated by just pressing the button.

21. Image quality captured by Velvia / ASTIA mode is improved on mainly shadow tone (dark area), when dynamic range is set to 200% or 400%.

22. When "OVF POWER SAVE MODE" is set to ON and "Fn" button is set to "MOVIE RECORDING", the camera may be unstable occasionally. This phenomenon is improved.

23. Histogram display on OVF during exposure compensation is improved.

4 areas of improvement for my method of usage.

- ISO is fixed for all modes. No need to change ISO when you change from P to A or S modes.
- Macro mode is fixed until it is disengaged
- When switching to a small focus area, it will stay at that size. Focusing has now improved due to a tighter focusing box.
- Timer is also in use continuously until it is disengaged.

Some surprises - the inclusion of an additional focus box in the OVF for shooting subject less than 80cm away, helps in knowing where you focus. Still have to use macro mode though in some cases.

Auto ISO is still stuck in the menu. i always fix ISO at first and hardly use auto iso unless am shooting event.

Generally it improves the shooting experience.

Bro, i got news that MS Color has stock for both the hood and the original full case set. You can check with them.

I think the whole world is waiting in anticipation on firmware improvements. Can't blame them, I am also one of the users. Good news is that it is really a good improvement over usability. Somethings still stays but generally the x100 has become a better tool.

Is it just me or does overall performance seem a little faster?

Is it just me or does overall performance seem a little faster?

I think it is just post installation misperception...hahahah..;)

It work just the same lah bro...

Maybe it's just that. Not noticing any major improvements, I guess they are more subtle...

Will the new firmware result in better and faster autofocusing on low contrast subject in low light environment ? The X100 is one of the worst cameras I have ever used in this respect. Set to Macro mode, it will usually not focus successfully even if the autofocus assist light is on. :(

Just updated the firmware, will go out and take the camera for a spin tomorrow..:)

I think I have bought/collected the required accessories for the x100. So to help those who has yet to dress up, this is what I have done and why I do it in words and in pictures for your reference.

I hope you guys find this helpful.

When I bought the x100, the camera comes with 1 extra battery, 1 screen protector, a 16GB vanilla fujifilm SD card, a card reader, a puny tripod and a leather jacket.

So I promptly put them all up and the first thing I would want to do is to protect that fantastic lens. What's the point of buying this camera and then scratch it when it can't be changed like a DSLR? Hence the hunt starts for a protector of thy lens.

So the very first solution was to get the adaptor ring (the AR-x100) but knowing that it is hard to comeby, i tried the step up step down and step aside filter adaptors that I have been reading around. Sad to say, not easy to find it in Singapore and I made a mistake buying the wrong stuff. Good thing is that i get to exchange it for a class 10 8GB Sandisk Extreme SD card and it works well with the x100. Still the lens need shades and then the shop I frequent gave me the best solution. Till now I don't know why I don't frequent them first to get the filter adaptor in the first place.

It is a hi quality UV glass from Japan with pre-applied adhesives. So the only thing that one needs to do is to clean the lens proper and stick it over the lens.

Next step is to get a remote shutter release. That's easy. I got a generic UR cable release to be used by inserting into the hole on the shutter button.

Hmm...that got me thinking. That shutter has that hole that needs to be plugged just in case liquid gets into the camera. And I also found out that the shutter is a bit too deep when I pressed it in using my finger joints. So I did some shopping for the soft release bip.

Not cheap for a small stuff, that's my reaction when I saw the prices for all the soft releases but good thing, someone made a post for a very small release that matches what I would want. After all I just want to plug a hole first, the height second to get the release working comfortable. The good news was that it is available in my country and that saves me some postage costs. Price wise it is not that cheap but significantly cheaper than what I have to pay for the branded stuff. That's from decameraconsultant.com.

I also have clip on neckstrap with the D clips at the end so that I can keep the camera in the dry box with the neck strap removed. That saves some space in the box itself. The problem i had then was the triangular metal clips that hold the camera to the strap and it moves around a bit when carried. SO i got it change to circular rings to make it easier.

3 months down my purchase, the leather jacket (full case) arrived. I went to collect it and was promptly disappointed with the feel of the case. Even though it comes in a fujifilm box, the quality doesn't match fujifilm's quality at all. It is faux leather and while the stitching is good, the workmanship in general is passable but not great. I came to this forum looking at the USD26 casings and it looks exactly like the same thing. I got to wonder if it is the same manufacturer? IN any case (pardon the pun), it is free and I will use it till it falls apart and maybe i buy the black one from eBay as a back up. Or I will get the real leather case when I have the cash.

The one thing that x100 should have is a wrist strap. Yes a neck strap is good when you need to free your hands but the wrist strap makes it portable. And following the neck strap, i need the D clip at the end. I have found some mobile phone strap but it doesn't look strong enough or made of the wrong material. In the end, i got myself a faux leather neck strap with the D clip for the mobile phone (a thick one) and cut it in half and made it into a wrist strap. being in brown and orange, it matches the leather jacket nicely and it is cheaper than what's being sold out there!

The last addition would be the lens hood and filter adaptor. Thanks to Chris, i managed to save some serious money rather than using the original set and ordered through eBay. Incidentally, I was asked to collect the set from the camera shop i have placed order with and with the LH-x100 on its way, i decided to wait out for my order to come through after reading Chris' experience with his set.

And it came just this morning! Talk about surprises. My thoughts? It screws on fine, and the hood sit firmly into the bayonet and it looked and feel solid. Color? Close. Close enough for me to feel that it comes with the camera. That's money well saved and spent!

So when I put all of them together it looks like this.

Now what's left is the 49mm lens cap and a CPL.

i would say the subtle changes improves usage tremendously. THAT is the most important thing. I for one am GLAD that I do not need to change ISO when i switch from P to A and/or S or vice versa. And add to take timer is always on untill i disengage. All leads to easier operation and less frustration through repeated actions. So in that way, nothing has changed much but it is faster in usage.

Just use a small focusing box (to change it, press AF button and the rocker lever) and it solves part of the problem. What's the other part of the problem? Try not to use multi focusing autofocus. I always dictate where I want to focus.

Fair enough. I'm usually shooting in M with ISO set on manual or auto, so this change wasn't that apparent to me :)
