Fuji X10, so pretty!

Got my sensor changed last mth. Actually takes only a week. But after I got it back, my ovf is badly aligned, will gets blur when I zoom in or out. Have not have time to go back since.....

Yes the sensor should be readily available by now . Definetely less then 2 weeks (thats what fuji told me over the counter) . And was told no problem I send in later so long as warranty still valid the day I send in.
But sad to hear that you got it back in such condition.
Guess we have to do a detail check during collection.

Had mine for a few months now, never really cared about changing the sensor. It works great for me, better just keep it as is :)

Hi guys, just wanna ask which is better X10 or the Sony RX100?

I know I'm in the X10 thread, just want know your opinions on RX100, aside from it being pricey, compared to X10? lol

I don't own the RX100 but I can give you a few impressions about both.

Image quality - Fuji well known for their colours and the jpegs out of camera on the X10 are superb.

ISO - hmm...it's a compact afterall. X10 I use up to 800-1600. Even if the RX100 is better, I doubt it will be very much more.

Lens - Fuji has a F2 to 2.8 throughout the whole range. It means even in low light, I don't need to compromise with much higher ISO when zooming.

Controls - because I use SLRs, the more buttons and dials, the better. It means I don't miss a shot fumbling with the controls.

AF - the X10 is lightning fast. It's fast enough to face detect and capture my children in action even without actual half-press AF confirmation.

Price - X10 cheaper (and yet, looks better and more 'luxurious')

Size - ah, probably the ONLY reason why I would buy the RX100.

In terms of compactness, higher ISO and slightly more shallow DoF the RX100 has the edge. Overall I prefer the X10.

Should wait for CES announcements around 7 Jan 13. Rumor is the successor to the Fuji X10 will be announced ..and many others as well..

I have owned both cameras and for me, what I like about RX100: resolves details better, has lesser noise & grain at high ISO and more compact. Everything else I prefer X10.

One is not better than the other. Better is subjective, so it really depends on what you are looking for in a camera.

I hope they increase the sensor diameter and decrease the body size a tad.

Sensor size and body size are always in tandem with each other. Bigger imager will always require bigger optics (to maintain the brightness at telephoto end). It's all about compromises....

Thanks for pointing out common sense. ;) Whatever, the RX100 has a larger sensor and is smaller at the same time.

Hi all,
Anyone try using R72 filter for IR shooting with the x10?

Hi Is17994,
Thanks for the info.
I guess better option is to buy another lens hood adaptor (40mm to 52mm), DIY block out all the vent holes & then attach the 52mm R72 filter.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the response, it's very helpful! I guess I should really wait for the X20 if it is true. Haha!

But yeah, I'm kinda convince on getting an X10 instead of the RX100. It really depends on what I need it for, the reason why I quit using dslr (450D).

Thank you all and have a happy new year! Take one photo a day, happy shooting!

i actually put on a 40 to 49mm step up ring and get a 49mm R72 filter from ebay. save the trouble of DIY blocking the vent holes. :)

Hi everyone ,

I'm new to Fujifilm and considering getting a X10 for use in concerts. Has anyone used it for this purpose ; kind enough to share the experience ?

Tried the camera once at a IT show and its not too bad , only worry for me is the batt life
